Hello everyone, my timeline is as seen below. Any idea, how long it takes to receive the OCI card? I am planning to book tickets for Nov'21 end or early Dec'21. Any thoughts?

Type: In-Person Walk-in (Brampton BLS)
Application Submitted: Sep 29, 2021

Just spoke to CBSA customer care. They said until and unless you break journey at DOHA its not required to have test done there. The PCR-TEST from KOLKATA will be valid in case of just a transit. But I will prefer to have a written confirmation as well. I am also curious to know how other travelers are travelling from same route with just 2 hrs overlay at DOHA.

This is very weird and probably misinformation on the part of CBSA. If you get this in writing, please DM me so that I can request you to email me a copy.

I have planned a return journey based on the information on the travel advisory website where people coming on an indirect route would have to get a test done at the transiting country before they can continue their journey to Canada.

https://travel.gc.ca/destinations/india

Indirect flights
Passengers who travel from India to Canada via an indirect route still need to provide a pre-departure negative COVID-19 molecular test result from a third country before continuing their journey to Canada.

Keep in mind:

  • certain countries don’t allow entry or transit of passengers arriving from India or of passengers who have previously tested positive for COVID-19
  • COVID-19 testing for passengers in transit might not be available in all international airports or third countries
  • if you test positive during transit, you may face local quarantine regulations or be returned to your point of departure
Carefully consider your itinerary, transit options and entry requirements for third countries.

Hey, My co-worker tried to board a flight like this but they didn't allow him to board and he has to end up cancelling that ticket with out refund and rebook tickets via Dubai with a test done in Dubai (layover of 2 days there). I highly doubt the test in Ahmedabad would be accepted as my co-worker also got the test done in Ahmedabad. He was flying Ahmedabad to Frankfurt and then to Toronto. So please be absolutely sure

Finally received my kid's OCI this morning. Here's the timeline -

Walkin submitted at BLS Toronto - 27 Aug
Status update on OCI services tracking saying In process - 14 September
Document printing, Dispatched from MEA (New Delhi) and Doc received at Toronto - 6 October
OCI delivered via Purolator - 12 October

Thanks everyone for the inputs and best of luck for your applications! :)

The BLS status still says (Passport ready For Dispatch after OCI stamping) BUT... I am able to track the package on the Purolator website using the reference number (CANT...) . Basically, we don't even have to wait for the tracking number from BLS. You can track it directly using your reference number (same goes for Surrender application).

No OCI updates but my surrender certificate is printed on passport seva site. I guess I should get it back in the next two weeks. Submitted both OCI and Surrender on Oct 6

Has anyone applied for entry visa while OCI is in process ? Is this something doable ?
I have to travel in December and I fear if I file for OCI, it may not come on time . In that situation , would it be possible for me to apply for an entry visa ?

I haven't applied for an entry visa personally but you should be able to AFAIK. You'll have to submit your Canadian passport and you can provide the receipt for the surrender certificate as proof for "Surrendered Indian Passport". Call BLS and find out.
