Hi,
If for example I am an engineer and the employer who is sponsoring and doing my LMIA is a property consultant so can he show that he needs me as an employee in his property management company? In simple words can my present job be different from that which I will do in Canada? Is this possible?

It can be different but that will increase the chances the work permit will be refused. There should be a link between your current or previous jobs or your education to the job you are being offered in Canada. Otherwise you are going to run the risk that the work permit will be refused because it won't make sense to IRCC why someone with no experience in that kind of role needs to be hired.

thank you both
How many points does a person get for LMIA and what are the documents required by both the employee and the employer?

so if my LMIA is done then surely I am going to Canada or its just that my 50 points are increased and I am still in the pool?

A LMIA doesn’t mean you are coming to Canada. For Express Entry, it gives you 50 points and you still need to be invited. If not invited, you would need an approved closed work permit to be able to work in Canada.

so if the employer needs me urgently and my CRS is 450 and after LMIA it is 500 but the latest express entry dray is 730 so I still won't be invited?

There have been no FSW draws since December of last year. So even if you had 500 points, you won't be selected until there is a FSW draw. We do not know when these draws are going to resume.

yes i know...hypothetically i mean and what is approved closed work permit?
You apply for a closed work permit with your LMIA to work in Canada. It takes months to process and can be refused if you aren’t experienced for the position or your education matches the job description.
