Try tracking your old passport's status on the Pasport seva India website, if it shows as "Passport application under review .. " then it means they are processing your application and your old passport has been cancelled. Sometimes it takes weeks for the file to see any movement.
Hi guys,
I applied for passport renewal on Aug 20, 2021 via in person appointment at BLS Toronto.
Since then, my application status on passport seva website is "Passport application is under review at Indian Embassy/Consulate.".
A file number was generate within the week of submitting the application and I've seen no movement since then.
As I am a PR in Canada, I was asked to put my Canadian address as passport to be printed and Indian address as other address.
My worry is that it has been almost 5 weeks and there is no movement and I have to travel to India for my wedding in November.
But I can't book tickets until I have the new passport number.
I've raise a query to Toronto High Commission via sampark and I am yet to hear back from them.
No one In India has contacted my parents for Police verification, and I haven't received any email from the Consulate reg any such initiation.
What can I do to check the status of my application ?

This is where i’ve been checking the application status and it says “Passport application is under review at Indian Embassy/Consulate”. It’s been over 5 weeks.
No idea man, I submitted mine on August 23 same office BLS Toronto showing Document has been printed.
Hey.. Thanks for comment, Yes Old passport is cancelled and new application status is Initiated for Print, Yet no police verification initiated, Let see what happens next.
Hi, how does one know that the old passport has been canceled? I have the ARN and when logging in to my passport seva account, i see application status as “passport application is under review at Indian Embassy/Consulate”
you need to track your old passport's application at the Passport Seva India website by using your previous passport's file number.

On Passport Seva India website, my old passport file number status says “Passport application is under review at Regional Passport Office.”, Data Source is Migration.
What can be inferred by this ?
