Query Regarding Express Entry-a Relative staying in Canada

Hi, I am a professional from India planning to submit the PR application under express entry program.

My IELTS score and NOC code 1122 passes the eligibility criteria.

I was told that if I have a Relative staying in Canada as a citizen, it will help me score more points.

Wanted to ask:

1) Does the Canadian Govt, call or contact the relative or this information is generally kept for records.

As the relative I have is ill and its been years we were out of touch.

please clarify.

If you say you're already eligible (i.e. through FSW points), you don't need to concern yourself about a relative. This would have added 5 points (passing score is 67) to your FSW eligibility. If this was a distant relative (e.g. cousin or more), they wouldn't have counted anyway.

Only siblings residing in Canada will add to CRS points (what is used in ITA draws). If this relative is not a sibling, forget about it...other relatives will not count.

Hi... Does the IRCC call and check if the sibling stays in Canada?

Sometimes they will verify that the sibling is actually living in Canada if they have doubts this is true. To claim the siblings points, you must also submit evidence that shows your sibling is living in Canada such as employment and tax records.
