Registered mail is the worst option for in and to Canada.

If you have sent the application from outside Canada, Canada Post would be the one to accept international registered mail. Registered mail is basically free mail, they are barely making anything off it. If you have been checking the track and trace you might have seen there is no updates if it has reached Canada or if it was somewhere within Canada. Despite the fact you have paid for track and trace its a free service to them to update your track and trace.

On top of this, registered mail is not really a priority in Canada. They can wait with registered mail as much as they like for them to finally reach their destination. Your package can take 3 weeks, 1 month, 2 months or longer.
Asking on the behalf of my friend

He checked on "On-line services" tool to see his status and this is what he found on point 5 (after point 4 which is your medical result have been received)

" We sent you a letter on July 15, 2021

But he never received any letter so my question is what that 5th point is all about ?

Has your friend linked his application with GCKey?
If yes, please let him check it, they might have requested ADR (Additional Document(s) Request). This could be a Police Certificate or any other documents to support his case.

After AOR2 and Medical request / passed, the next step would be Pre-Arrival Letter. To my knowledge this means that the Principal Applicant's relationship is considered genuine.

If there is an ADR letter, I am genuinely concerned that he might have been taking too long to respond and that the VO might consider this case as abandoned. Because I have no idea how long you have in general to send documents.

If he hasn't linked his application, let him use the webform as line 5 might also say: 'Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us. '

Thank you for detailed explanation
He hasn't linked with GCKey account. I will tell him to raise a webform.
Just one thing, does everyone get email for AOR2?
What exactly AOR2 means?

Not everyone, but line 2 on ECAS where it shows we start processing on [month, xx, xxxx] is your AOR2.
AOR2 is your 2nd Acknowledgement of Receipt from the Visa Office it got sent to, only this time the PA will receive the 2nd one and not the sponsor.

Hello guys,

I have seen on our tracking spreadsheet that around 20 to 30% applicants from January and February month have already received their COPR within 6 months. Is it a regular timeline? Or is it take around 12 months like IRCC says on their website?

Thank you.

Hi,

Two questions:

I tried to link my application to my GCKey account multiple times and it's not working. We've received AOR1, a request for an updated police check, and done biometrics so surely it'll be there?

We've sold our house and moved to rented accommodation. Any idea on how to do a change of address? Do we both have to let them know? I did a case specific enquiry online and let them know but I (the sponsor) have another email with a link that eventually asks me to contact the Canadian visa office. We are applying from the UK. What is a visa office?

Sorry, I just want to make sure we do this correctly

Make sure you are using the PA information when linking and not the sponsor. This goes for fields such as DOB, Place of Birth, Family Name and such

Thank you for your reply. I've definitely got that part correct.

I found this to be very helpful.
https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/how-to-link-an-application-to-cic-account-step-by-step-instruction.619724/

Especially her quote:" No. This is important: please, don't worry if you can't link an application to an account for a long time because technically you don't even need it. Until you link an application to an account, all the communication with CIC will go to your (PA's or sponsor's) email. You will not miss anything. Biometric requests, medical requests, passport requests - everything will come to your email if you don't have an account or just unable to link an application. don't kill yourself if you can't link an application for 2-3 days and you've made 10-15 attempts. Try different combinations. If you were unsuccessful with passport info, try date of birth, and the opposite. Don't waste your attempts using the same combination every day. Try to combine as much as you can. One of the combinations will work for you. "
