yes but I also saw a lot who got approved through HCCP inside Canada that they used the gckey to get some updates for their hccp PR approval. They linked the application, and get some updates there. Once approved, the gckey will also be updated and at the same time they will send a link (the pr portal) for them to log in & land. Lastly, IRCC emailed them their copy of COPRs.
My cousin checked her gckey account yesterday (because I told her to do it), and nothing was updated since the last time she got her COPR. She got the news of her PR approval thru the pr portal only and NOT in her gckey account.

Oh maybe its different for each individual. The ones I saw who posted in the group, PR portal came first then their ECOPR. They also posted the screenshot of their gckey account which was updated to “APPROVED.”

Sorry for the confusion. I’m just driving a point that for applicants who are waiting for a direct PR even without 24 months Canada experience (public policy), they need to wait for the PR portal. Because ircc will not give the PR without using the portal. i just learned about PR portal link yesterday. I thought everything is thru gckey account only.

No under hccp after 2years of experience we get open work permit in which we can work anywhere in any stream other than caregiver. Its for sure
Sorry for the confusion. When I said “open work permit”, i forgot to include job restrictions for those who has zero Canada experience. Under the HCCP, the applicants like me who has zero experience at the time of submission will be given an open work permit (job restrictions only), while the applicants who already completed their 24 months canada contract, will be given an open work permit (any job, any location except Quebec, any employer).

She’s NOT in HCCP. She already completed her caregiver program for 24 months under the OLD caregiver program. She’s one of the backlogs why ircc cannot move on with HCCP applicants.
That’s why she got her open work permit for ANY jobs. Again, she is DONE with her contract as a caregiver since last year. I hope you understand my point.
got it.

I agree. But some believes that the public policy is a direct PR without 24 months of completing your Canada experience. So I’m just telling them the procedure of getting the PR approval thru the PR portal and not thru gckey account.
don’t worry I am not after the direct PR. I am here in Canada already with 8 months of experience. I just need my occupation-restricted open work permit. That’s all. Thank you. Bow!
thank you for the information ... I just want to increase my knowledge... and want to know after the biometric (for the outside applicant like me) what will happened? we will get occupation-restricted open work permit i think and we will arrive by that, correct?

For ALL applicants biometrics is just first step of giving your identity to ircc. You will still have to take medical (for a LMIA closed work permit, this is a signal that you’re almost on a final stage). But since PR was included in the application (with dependents), it will take more waiting. They need to make it sure that all of your dependents has no health problems, your marriage is good, etc. Some encountered problem because their husband is married to previous. (Under the old caregiver program, 3 months for LMIA, then 3 months for work permit. So less than a year of waiting). Then if all of your requirements passed (you will see it in your gckey account), they will email you your PR portal for your PR. But because you don’t have yet a Canada work experience, i GUESS they will do it once you submitted your 24 months CANADA EXPERIENCE (no one knows yet).
once ircc requested for your PHYSICAL passport (like sending the passport itself to the embassy), it means you’re APPROVED with work visa, otherwise they won’t request for your physical passport. In some countries (I did it in Israel, I just went to the embassy, waited for 20 minutes, then tada! I had my visa stamp! I left to Canada the next day)
Another thing for first timers, WORK VISA is the sticker the local Canada embassy will give you. The WORK PERMIT is only issued upon arrival in Canada airport (i got my work permit within 15 minutes only because of the queue). But the waiting time varies. For someone with family, it will take few minutes of waiting. But if you arrived alone, it will be faster.
and I had an annoying experience, I was in Germany airport (for lay over), and they were asking me for a WORK PERMIT. I had to show them the letter from ircc explaining to them that I will just get it UPON ARRIVAL. And they were not even an officer, they are just an airline crews! I thought they won’t allow me to get inside the plane for Canada. I was really annoyed, it took me few minutes because they have to call someone, all because I only have a work visa! So if someone have connecting flight, print that email from ircc telling you about the work permit, and shove it to the airline’s crew. Hahahaha!

Ok here it is.

Restricted Open Work Permit- is given if you are applying with NO experience (Outside Canada) to less than 24 months of experience (Inside Canada) and got approved. This is the 1st Stage of HCCP/HSW. You can work with any employer, but your work must be the same based on your NOC, either 4411 or 4412. Noc can't be changed.

Open Work Permit - is given if you have completed your 24 months of experience under HCCP/HSW, applied for PR and eligibility has met. If you have this type of work permit, you can work anywhere you want, any employer, any NOC code as long as you follow the things that are listed on the conditions written on your work permit copy.

Application linked to GCKEY account - this is only possible if you have received a permanent AOR. If you linked it successfully, you will be able to see updates, messages, requests, etc. straight from your visa officer, sometimes it is sent to your personal email.

PR PORTAL- this is a separate portal and not connected to gckey account. You will only receive this once you completed the 24months experience (Stage 2) and got approved for PR. So how this works is they will send you a message on your personal email to confirm information from you. You will reply to that email and wait for the login credentials that they will be sending you. You will use this login details to get in the portal and upload your photo that will be used for your PR Card.

eCOPR- This can be seen on your PR Portal account. This electronic Confirmation of Permanent Residence can be used to prove your residency status in Canada while waiting for your PR Card. You can't get this without getting the PR portal email first.

Most of the time, applicants will receive PR Portal email first without seeing on their Gckey account that their application got approved (gckey account might get some delay). Some of the applicants will see their application status on gckey account as approved first then will receive an email regarding PR Portal. Basically, what we see in gckey account doesn't matter as long as an applicant received an email for PR Portal, because receiving it will only mean approval of the application.

Thank you for this informative message. I knew about work permit only (as someone who got 3 approved work permits and 1 tourist visa). I didn’t know all about PR thing. So it means, i still have a long way from the PR, but almost there from my work permit! (For HCCP outside applicant, don’t worry, you will still get here even with only a work permit. You don’t need a PR just to arrive here. All you need is a work permit for you and your dependents).

Someone who applied in Aug. 2020 outside Canada w/ dependent has received update now from IRRC. I wonder what’s the processing system of IRRC in prioritizing applications. What will happen now to 2019 applicants? Are they just waiting for this applications to withdraw?
