Hmm.. checked out the link you sent and did not see info on the new portal, strange.. I only saw the same old instruction..

Here, check these out, the early applicants organized this, hope it helps:

Here's some links you can check out from Canada Visa Forum:
For newbies, here are the most relevant links for you to get started. If you have questions after going through all those links, then let us know. This is to keep the thread on track:
Find out if your occupation falls under the self-employed category and exactly what cultural activities mean - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=291&top=6.

Q1: only the most recent 5 years are required, but I did briefly mentioned some highlights in my career more than 5 years ago, but those are just icing on the cake. Focus on the recent 5 years' experience.

Q2: If you're talking about the Asset Section in Schedule 6A, IRCC instructed in the form that you don't need to submit any document as proof, for now, they'll ask for it later if needs be.

I read through all the threads in the 2021, 2020, 2019 SE topics in this forum, roughly 160 pages.. It'll give you a much comprehensive view of the application overall, 99% of your questions will be answered in those threads. If you got time, it is worth reading.
Hi Ryan

Regarding the link, it's weird, yesterday when I copied-pasted the link, I still can read that we can apply online. But now if I click on the link, the content is exactly like the old one. I prepare for paper-based application then. I even read the SE 2018 forum. Sometimes the refusal stories are so discouraged and scarry :(

Dear all,

When describing your experience in Schedule 6 (#7) do you write in the provided sheet and then add other sheets or can I just write down in that provided space 'see the attached sheets' and write all the experiences in other sheets? Thanks.

I think it gives us an overall picture of this program and also makes us to have a better idea in terms of the chance we got in this program, just do your best, prepare everything and sent it in! :)

Dear all,

Q1: How much Purchase Orders, invoices, contracts, should I provide? I roughly receive 5 POs/work order daily from different clients. Should I send them all (for the last 5 years)? My occupation is translator.

Q2: I believe I can provide additional sheets for schedule 6A #11 (intended occupation) where I put my plans to continue working as self-employed in Canada?

Thanks for your reply.

Q1: The idea is to give the VO a comprehensive and non-confusing picture of your occupation. Maybe not every single POs, that will be too much, but you should find a way to convince them that you have enough income and documents to support that claim.

Q2: Definitely. I haven't heard anyone who didn't attach additional papers to that. Although you're not required to write a business plan in 6A #11, many people do. I did as well. 10 pages long.

Hi,
We are planning to apply under self employed category. I wanted to understand how much time it is taking these days. Govt portal mentions 35 months. Does in reality it takes that longer or basis the application it can happen earlier as well. And what are the rejection chances.
Thanks

Hi there, welcome.

35 months is an average time for Local Visa Offices (LVO) to process one's application. It can differ greatly from one LVO to another. Since covid, what I have seen is that lots of people waited for 6 months or more to receive AOR, Acknowledgment of Receipt of your application. But some LVO processes it quicker than others. But overall it is drastically slower than 2018-2019.

There are no official rejection chances posted online. But IRCC usually grants somewhere between 550-1250 people under the SE stream. This number seems to need to be divided by 2-3, as each application contains 2-3 or even more family members. Hope this helps.

This number (around 400 families?) is quite encouraging. Hopefully, as time goes by and we recover from the pandemic, the process will gradually back to the previous processing time. I wonder about the application status of those who have applied in 2020 (after the pandemic).
