Students should not be immigrants bruh. They declared that they would return to their home country after study when they were applying for study permit. I hate Canada for issuing pr to students. Students should be able to find work, then go through cec to get their pr
Thisssssssssssss you have a point. If you are going to offer the PR why reject applications under the guise of “no ties to home country”?
Ughhh, these guys are exhausting

Conservatives announced that they will expedite the visa processing and bring a payment based expedited service system in which you can opt for premium processing.

How many of you guys are ready to pay that type of premium charges to expedite the process? Just wondering.
It’s not bribery if it is legal and offered by the system. I am only saying i won’t mind $7500 for express premium priority

So I dunno how to feel about sept 7 anymore. I just saw this on Nairaland. Wouldn’t the staff know by now if they were planning to resume draws by September 7 ?
I copied it cos I dunno how to attach screenshots.

“After I got my ielts result yesterday I called my cousin that works with immigration Canada yesterday if he had any idea when FSW program will resume and he told me he has no idea, that they are working on Afghanistan refugees, I guess the Canadian govt is trying to bring them in as refugees.
I just pray and hope that this doesn't affect FSW program.”

Federal COVID-19 briefings stopped during election, sources say. Experts concerned

The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) hasn’t held a single COVID-19 briefing since the announcement of the federal election on Aug. 15 and doesn’t plan to provide any more in-person health updates until it’s over, Global News has learned.

Since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020, PHAC had been providing at least weekly updates in person on the progress of the coronavirus and the country’s response in dealing with it.

However, shortly before the election was confirmed, PHAC turned to news releases once a week instead of live briefings. And, it plans on continuing with that approach unless anything changes — at least until the election is over — sources have confirmed to Global News. The sources added that there is always the possibility this could change.

The last full modelling update on COVID-19 from the federal government was on July 30.

Ok, but think from this way. FSW draw in August won’t be aimed at meeting this years target as well. So why has it not happened yet? Don’t you think that IRCC probably had minutes / plans that are undisclosed, but had been executed regarding not conducting FSW draws?
Ultimately, I’ve realized they are hell bent on meeting this year’s immigration target. They wouldn’t want an all program draw in August because only a few CEC would make it (we all know CEC is easier and more efficient to process). They are still yet to meet the Federal high skilled target for this year so from their perspective it would make sense to keep doing CEC-only at least until early September; Considering that currently, the average processing time from AOR to eCOPR is 2-3 months for CEC applications. Logically, from September 29 at the latest it makes absolutely no sense to do CEC-only draws because those would not contribute to 2021 immigration targets

As for the backlog reason; there would always be backlogs- whether CEC or FSW. Truth is, the more they conduct CEC draws the more they will continue to prioritize them. An all program draw would be an indication of a shift of focus to outlanders. It would be good for all. Let’s see how things play out

And yeah! I expect them to land several thousand FSW-O before the year runs out. It’s logical to assume that they have reserved those outland applications already approved or close to being finalized as an ‘insurance buffer’ to ensure that they meet the overall immigration targets for this year (which is a long way from being met at the moment). Border reopening might just be the ‘triggering factor’, you never know.

Ain't that the truth brother. All we have to do wait to see how things play out as all the pieces are on the table until and unless the game changes.

JT failed his "end covid in canada and be a hero" plan to win majority. Now he has to lie and pretend that covid is over in Canada, while it's definitely not. How will he do that? Apparently by ignoring or even hiding anything related to covid lol. He's getting really good at Kim Jong-ing.
