Guys come on this is basic political common sense. 2021 is not 2019. There is a housing crisis now. The absolute last thing the govt will do is restart FSW draws during the election. They may do it the very first day after the election - I have no idea! But I will bet my life on the idea they do not restart FSW before the election.
Lived in Canada in 2019. There was a housing crisis back then too. Also many new outlanders (FSW and alike) are already entering Canada.

Housing crisis is in Ireland, UK, Germany - most of the developed countries. House prices in Ireland are similar to the ones in Canada and you are getting a small little ***** hole for that money :) in Ireland

The one in Canada is a spectacular one. You get a small little shithole of a single room in a small little shithole of an apartment in Canada. And this was in 2019; no pandemic, regular economy. It's not like citizens are just waking up to this reality, nor do they track draws or immigration news. Citizens have always been aware of the housing crisis. I never understood why they keep voting for parties who don't even promise mass construction of new houses and apartments. They have vast lands for that.

Well if someone wants to live in city center, center , center hahah :D then you have to pay for that. Look at the prices of apartments in London or Dublin in the city center. Prices are even higher than in Canada :D

I'm not even talking about the city center dude; anything within the 30-40 km radius is stupid expensive. So you can't even go the US on it and go like "yeah ima buy a car and drive 30 minutes everyday and cut the rent in half" nope, 30 minutes away it's still stupid rent.

Do not bring a housing crisis into it. This is far more complex topic than as simply saying "There is a housing crisis" - it can be resolved and it will be resolved. TO do that you need people that are willing to spend money ;) More immigrants, more demand etc. etc. etc.
Is this Adam Vaughan??

It is true. However I have friends that recently bought places in Toronto(around Toronto) and Calgary. In Calgary you can get a house with a basement and a garage from around 500 000$ (either nearly new, renovated to high standards) in Toronto AREA it is closer to 800 000$ for a new house. I think Alberta is managable with cost of the houses. Toronto is crazy expensive no doubts about that. Also in Calgary friend of mine got a lovely new house for $580 000

Yesterday, Trudeau said it's nearly impossible to get many Afghan refugees out of Afghanistan. They just make false promises.

There were groups requesting US and Canada that they retrieve their personnel and allies, for like a month before shit hit the fan. Both countries waited because it’s better for the photo op rescuing after chaos started. That’s why I despise professional politicians.

If I were to vote in the Canadian elections I would only have voted for a party that promises a mass construction of houses and apts. "Why does the private sector not just do that?" Well most of the soil is sold to foreign nationals (mainly asian nationals) who just keep the land. They don't sell the land, they don't build houses on the land. They just keep it. Wonder why? Well think.

Well, problem is, jobs are centered around a few cities so you're forced to pay that 800k and can't get away with 500k. I guess most of this forum comes from a STEM or software background, not as many STEM or software jobs around Calgary as Toronto. Canada is a vast land, they use so little of it. It's crazy.

By the way 800k is still not that expensive by Canadian standards. Look at the prices in west coast.

Expand housing supply, problem solved. Stop listening to HOA and the homeowners wanting the house market to skyrocket.

It is true. Software market in Calgary is smaller but it is growing. I am coming from DevOps background myself, more from Infrastructure and Cloud side, also having a software background and experience :) I know for sure that a lot of things are changing specially with remote work. I am in a close contact with one of the banks in Canada as I nearly got a job with them. It suppoused to start in Dublin with a later transfer to Canada however it did not work out because of the Security reasons from their side which I understood. Getting an LMIA would be very difficult, however what the manager told me is that he would not care where his team would be working from, it can be Calgary, Toronto or any other city. Most of his team was working from different locations in Canada anyway ;) More and more companies are allowing this flexibility as they can get more talent with that approach. You cannot say no to that :)

I think he already talked about it and the answer was no with the amount of ITAs they are issuing,
