Blame the system.. not the people who apply for urgent processing… IRCC encourages to apply for UP under certain circumstances and if that is someone’s case then why not?
ircc should have done all applications older than 18 or 24 months an automatic urgent application.
what to say. no accountability.
or at least they should stop processing the ones that are of less than 1 year old to clear backlog(except urgent ones).
They really dont have plan or dont want to have plan. its a messy office.

They start asking documents via emails and webforms and people are submitting multiple emails and multiple webforms clogging more. It is going to delay more.

But this is not an automatic email though. Not everyone's request get this kind of response to get forwarded to local office. YOu might get approval from local office. good luck.
My first UP request was also forwarded by an actual person to the local office. This time the response came a few days quicker. If it goes through, it'll happen over the next 2 weeks probably. If not, then I guess I won't be able to join the CAF.

Because applying for UP and using a job description that you have no intention of applying for is a deliberate misrepresentation of your circumstances? You can be mad at IRCC all you want, but since when does a large backlog due to a global pandemic give you a moral high ground to fraudulently take a position in the queue from people who actually need it? Think about this for a second, why are you applying for UP? Like, actually why? If you have a legitimate urgent need then by all means apply, but some people here (not all) are implying they have no good reason to apply for UP other than to shave some time off the application, and that really they just can't wait because they are impatient or just generally mad at IRCC. Is this reason really greater than that of someone who, for example, will be fired if they don't have citizenship by X date? Or perhaps someone who needs to travel to see a dying relative?

You know exactly why those conditions for UP exist, I can say with certainty they aren't there for people to intentionally misrepresent themselves as wanting to apply for a job with no intention of actually doing so. Infact, making such a misrepresentation could definitely get your application rejected outright if they knew you had no intention of applying for the role, they just have no reasonable way of verifying that. People who game the system like this are acting in extremely bad faith and frankly if they're already misrepresenting themselves in this manner at this point, it makes me question whether they're really the kind of person the country needs.

And for the record, in my case I'm an extremely skilled candidate who could definitely apply for some federal cyber-security roles that would require citizenship, but I have no intention to apply for those roles and therefore I have no intention of abusing the immigration system by filing a fraudulent UP application. But that's just me, I do infact believe in having some integrity when filing citizenship application of all things. I can, in fact, just wait a few months.
I agree with the following :

This is aimed at noone in particular, but please do not apply for urgent processing unless you have a genuine bona fide reason to do so. It's a waste of time for immigration officials to be processing urgent applications that aren't actually urgent, and it pushes people down the line who do have real reasons to apply for UP. Applying for UP just because you want to save a few months on your application is in very bad faith and I'm a little surprised immigration doesn't take a much dimmer view of it.
However, I wouldn't assume that everyone who applies for UP for a prospective job that they really want (I did that too) is trying to misrepresent their case or cheat the system. Presumption of innocence until proven guilty, right? I know that I need this job and I have already applied for it without citizenship (and that application probably will not move forward) and I am going to apply right after I take oath of citizenship. The prospective job isn't going to be listed forever, you know and they might not hire for that position for a couple of years. Opportunities don't knock the door too many times. So, IMO, if you GENUINELY intend to apply for a job, go for it. Request UP, build a case and see if it works for you.

Good luck!

I'm looking for help:

My wife recently received an IRCC email asking for photos of every page of her travel documents used in the last 5 years -- the problem is, one of her long expired documents - a passport which expired in 2017 - was lost long ago.

I intend to write a brief letter which we'll include with the rest of the document pages explaining that we have lost the expired passport and cannot provide photos -- does anyone know of a template letter for a missing document? Is there anything I should (or shouldn't) say in the letter?

Thanks in advance from anyone who can provide guidance.

I hope she filed a police report when she lost the old passport and has a copy of the said report. She can simply write a letter mentioning that passport that expired in 2017 (which was within the eligibility period) was lost and provide them with a copy of the police report. If you have copies of the bio page of that passport, then provide those.

There aren't any specific templates that need to be used. A simple letter should suffice.

We don't know when it was lost (it was already expired when it was lost) andso no - she didn't make a police report.

We don't know when it was lost (it was already expired when it was lost) and no - she didn't make a police report, as police reports are for crimes and losing a document isn't a crime (it wasn't stolen).
Most countries have requirements that says you need to report a lost passport to the police (not just stolen passport). This needs to be done irrespective of whether the passport is expired or not.

Here's an example :

https://torontopolice.on.ca/records-release/passport-reports.php

If your passport has been lost or stolen, it may be necessary to provide of a copy of this report to the Embassy or Consular Office of the Passport issuing country. Once you have made a report with the Toronto Police concerning this matter, you may submit a request for this service.
Here's another :

https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/lost-stolen-visas.html

Police Report

Go to the local police station and report your document(s) lost or stolen. If available, you will need to provide copies of the original documents. You will be issued a police report detailing the incident. Don’t forget to make an extra copy of the report for your own records.
Anyway, you guys didn't know about it and you didn't get it done, which is fine. You can only provide them with what you have.

In that case, just provide a letter explaining that she's lost the passport and provide a copy of the bio pages of that passport, if available.

Good luck!

Yeah as you can see I edited my comment after the fact because I thought to myself -- better check if what I'm saying is actually right! I was wrong, of course -- I had no idea this was customary but I guess it makes sense.

In any event - yes, it's many years lost now so we'll just go with what we have.

Hi Everyone,
Past few days I was quite busy and couldn't check my application status.
I just checked the status and rest of the components (Language skills, Physical presence and Prohibitions) has got 'Completed'. The status was updated on 13-Aug.
Can someone please update the sheet?
Also, can someone could say how long does it take to get the Citizenship ceremony invite once the other components are 'Completed'? Currently Citizenship ceremony is in 'Not Started' status.

Got the request to scan passport pages, both me and the wife, but no request on behalf of our kids. Was it similar for others as well?
Passport pages are to confirm physical presence calculation. Kids do not have any physical presence requirement.
