I had the same impression, but I guess I'm unlucky... just got a request for additional intent to return proof. PA from ETA country. Really don't know what else to send... I was trying to avoid buying tickets already but I guess I have no choice.

My guess is they want an update because it has been almost a year and things might have changed.
I left out the other part of my impression, or mentioned only in passing, that some offices (or more general approach?) seem to be asking for info as standard operating procedure. These tendencies obviously can contradict each other.

I don't have a lot of suggestions, there are a few others who have got these info requests where it seems almost like a form letter and the person reviewing didn't even look at what was provided before.

So obviously update what you can - but I would have no compunctions about repeating and resending information that was already sent before, too.

Because it seems like a form letter, I don't think it should be taken as a sign you need to get on a plane tomorrow or over-react.

Quick question: did the communication/request use the standard procedural fairness language? I.e. reference to "I ahve doubts that you..." or quoting specific sections of the immigration act, with warning that if not satisfied it will be refused? Or just request for info?

Good luck at any rate.

Alright, well, I guess I'll be safe and gather all possible documents on my end, just in case ! Anyway, will keep my fingers crossed and hope they don't ask :D

Good luck !

Thank you. Yes, I'm planing on sending what I already did and updating what needs to be updated.

To answer you question, just request info.

Okay, thank you. This reinforces my impression (repeat, only impression) that this is a standard request for more information (possibly under a somewhat new procedure or some internal change?) because they did not use the rather specific language of the procedural fairness letter (which basically says we think you don't meet the requirements under law and if you don't, we'll refuse the application). The procedural fairness letters also seem to come with more specific 'I so-and-so [person with some internal position of importance]' language.

This doesn't mean you shouldn't take it seriously and respond with good info within the timeframe provided. But if it's more of a standard language form letter (as opposed to required legal form), it to me is a little less frightening, they're just asking for basic and updated information.

[Don't know how much this changes your response, I'm also trying to understand how they're approaching right now]

I’m not getting too stressed about this, just a bit bummed because it’s more stuff to deal with and translating/certifying stuff costs a lot of money.
I also think this is somewhat of a standard request. A lot of things might have changed for the sponsor in the past 10 months, I understand the need to get updated info.

I'll send some things that I already submitted before and some more things I have now, like the proof the sponsor sold her car etc...

Buying tickets to support intent to return will have very little or no effect on an approval. It's not taken into consideration since they know you have no idea when approval might come. Keep the $$ in your pocket for now.

I think it may if the sponsor is intending to return shortly, ie before the PA gets ppr. But unless that's the actual plan (such as for documented employment as in another case here), concur that just purchasing tickets to bolster the file is a waste.

I didn't think of that aspect, totally reasonable if it is for the Sponsor to return. I assumed it was for the PA for whatever time in the future.

It is a good point to clarify since it wasn't specifically stated. There may be other cases where it makes sense to show travel plans for both eg if from an eTA country as well, but absolutely agree that just buying tickets with no other context to support likely à waste and not convincing.

I don't believe so, I think you'll just get the notes when ready (unless they are delayed, where you would get a delayed notice).

Question, since the PA is Italian and visa exempt, what needs to be done for PPR ? Curious since my partner and the PA in our application is also European and visa exempt :) Thanks !
I see armoured already answered this! But yes, we sent a photocopy of our passport, 2x passport sized photos according to IRCC specs, and the first page of the PPR letter / email which they ask for.

If you have accompanying family then you also have to include a letter stating the height and eye colour for each member (we didn't have to do this). They also provide a third- party release form to fill out if you need someone else to pick up your CoPR (we didn't need to do this either) .

We just got an email saying our CoPR is ready for pickup today!!!

We sent it via mail. In the email they provide a list of places to send your passport depending on where you are. Since we're currently in Italy, we sent it to the Canadian embassy in Rome.
