Fingerprinting is part of the first level background check (RCMP, national level), simultaneously criminality checks are completed (By CSIS via national & international database) . Only after these two checks are done your application gets transferred to your local office where the rest of the process is completed.

This could actually cause a slight delay in your application processing since FP request means your file is considered Non-Routine. Wish you the best.

I moved to another province after submitting the citizenship application. Change of residence is not mentioned in the link, but I think this is the reason for an early fingerprint request. Thanks for the answer.

Hi guys,

Just read about a test invite form one of the members. I have also got a very close timeline to that. So does this mean that things are moving on and we will see our test invites soon? Let's hope so 'cause it's about time. Btw, I need to ask the following:

- Are you guys already preparing/studying for the test?
- How long after we get the test invite are we supposed to take the test?
- Do you think the process steps will move more quickly after the test is taken?
- What's the average timing left for all this to be over? ( hope I won't have to apply for my PR card which expires next January!)

Thanks a lot to who is willing to answer and lots of luck to everyone
Hello there..
- I don't even know what the test is all about. On a serious note, I only intend to start studying after I get the invite. But no harm to start early if one wants.
- Typically people are giving the test within a week (based on few random users on the other 2019 threads)
- After the tests, it should be quick, but nowhere as quick as those centuries old pre-pandemic days. What I did was took a random set of 5 users (all 2019) who got test invites during the 1st two weeks of Feb. Only 1 user got Oath ceremony on the 2nd week of April. The other 4 users are still awaiting the Oath email. All have Decision Made status (approx 1 month after test) except for one who is still stuck in limbo. Best way would be to study the trackers for May-October (2019) - thats where all the activity is!
- I wouldn't be surprised if we get the passports in hand around this time next year. But its anyone's guess at this point. The online tests are still in Pilot phase. I personally hope to finish this process sometime during the last quarter of this year - call me optimistic! :)

Hi,

I think this differs on case to case bases. My application was transferred to local visa office back in Feb & I received FP request in first week of April. As per call centre agent all my checks are completed except criminality for which they requested FP. The current status of my file is "Test Pending Clearance" as per GCMS notes which means once the RCMP clearance will be done I may get test request.

Thanks.

Hi Guys. If anyone can help. My application status is below:
  1. We received your application for Canadian citizenship (grant of citizenship) on August 24, 2020.
  2. We started processing your application on January 27, 2021.
I haven't received AOR. Is there anything that I can or need to do in my case to help with the process? Do I need to contact CIC for my AOR? Thank you in advance for your help.

AOR shouldn't really matter since they've started processing your application (AOR is always before this). I am assuming you got the information online or via phone, please confirm. Also, it is possible that the AOR email got stuck in your email's junk folder.

Congrats! Was your application urgent or regular? What is your LVO (Local Visa Office)?
My application was regular. On the invite for exam letter i got it from Niagara center guess depends on the location from where the applicants are . I live in Oakville hope that helps

IRCC is having difficulties sending out AOR in a timely manner. As long as your online status shows AOR, then it means real AOR. And they will update you again if it goes to "In Process". Good Luck!

If it helps anyone - got my GCMS notes last week and here are the highlights.

- Paper Application from August 2020 still "in transit" to local office.
- Fingerprints Required but no request initiated yet, had a due date which passed long time ago.
- Eligibility, Criminality, etc have a due date of March 2022.

The overall message I got from GCMS notes is to not worry about it as it's just a big joke. Lol.
