that is true, but it will be under control anyways.. and vaccine can really help, take a look at the data in Israel, UK and US.

The problem is that the vaccine roll-out is really slow here. We don't have the inventory of vaccines to move forward with vaccinations as quickly as the other countries you have mentioned.

It sounds like everyone who wants a vaccine in the U.S. will be able to get their first shot by the end of April. It's going to take a lot longer for that to happen in Canada. Until that happens, hospitalizations and ICU loads are going to continue to be a problem. Things are not good in Ontario right now.

so that is why i believe you will experience a hard shutdown again, hopefully that would be the last time.

Ontario is already under a 1 month emergency brake lockdown.

I think some of you seem to underestimate how bad the situation here is, we're lagging behind by quite a bit.

Because there's no capacity to produce vaccines locally we're completely dependent on foreign shipments, and those shipments have been very slow.

I don't want to be the harbinger of bad news, but i would be very surprised if FSW draws resume this year. If it does it will be at the very end of the year.

But that doesn't mean that you should be complacent, make sure you're in the pool and maximising your points.

"We of the pessimist council do not share Islander216's views on this point. While it is true that the Covid situation in Ontario is deteriorating, Covid-19's increasingly weak and futile efforts to evade vaccine efficacy force us to take a grudgingly optimistic view of the pandemic starting in mid-summer. We look forward to collaborating with Islander216 on other pressing Council topics, such as the housing and stock markets, or Justin Trudeau's ability to avoid being racist on Halloween.*"

I've said plenty of optimistic things here, but i would not expect you to know that since you're a newer member. :)

But right now, the truth is what it is. I don't put a pessimistic or optimistic bent on it, the people here know what the situation is like and as far as i can tell, they all seem to echo what i've said.

Doesn't mean you shouldn't continue with your immigration journey or that eventually you will not have the opportunity to move here. But it's good to know what the reality is here, so you can plan accordingly. I think that has value especially for someone outside Canada, i know i always valued that when i was living externally, i.e. getting insight into how things are going in Canada.

You’re taking the view based on the current situation in Ontario, but you don’t know what the next 3 months will hold. You may have a point that FSW draws may take a bit of time, but it’s also good to consider how much immigration brings money to the table. Probably the best thing is not to that IRCC is unpredictable.

nobody knows what the reality is, perhaps not even IRCC. they've been promoting FSW in the USA and have even said FSW would be back soon. so there can be no realism in this thread, only optimism or pessimism. and I can't understand why some people would bother posting pessimistic posts in a thread where the matters are about people they don't even know.

How have they been promoting FSW in the US lately?

Well hopefully it will resume the FSW draw in May. I am praying for that.

My sister received GCMS notes today, March 2020 AOR, application was approved in September 2020 which means her application progressed normally throughout the pandemic last year, no PPR yet. FSW-O from India.

I think they purposely held back the PPR to wait for the travel restrictions to be eased.
It's nice to have family members moving together ya?

I'm not sure why some of you here have to attack every insight which may seem at odd with your rosy outlook. For me it's just like the people who have to be pessimistic about everything, you seem to have to be optimistic about everything otherwise it's a pessimistic take.

We're close to having a stay at home order implemented in Ontario, the notion that FSW draws would resume soon against that backdrop, especially considering the proportion of immigrants Ontario usually accepts is unrealistic. Whether you like it or not.

Stop taking everything so personally, I'm not commenting on yours or anyone else's chances, just explaining what the situation is here. If you want to bury your head in the sand that's your prerogative some people do want to know what's going on here and how that will affect them.

It's not just about your morale, people's morale here is low too, but it doesn't mean we don't face the reality head on.

The problem is that we already have proof that the vaccines essentially eradicate the virus. See Israel (60% of the population has been vaccinated) - they have almost no cases. They have returned to normal.
https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/israel/

Canada is in the sh*tter now, for sure, but it's only a matter of months until we hit the same vaccination percentage. Vaccine deliveries have been reliable and on track.

The question of covid isn't one for opinions - unless a vaccine-beating variant comes out of nowhere, we know it's going away, and soon. The current situation in Ontario is largely irrelevant for the prospect of FSW draws in the 2nd half of the year.
