Reading the thread from a few days, I felt really sad about a recent rejection. However, just wanted to share with you guys that I just received my second GCMS notes. My file status is open but my application was approved on 11/02/2020. The validity of COPR is till 05/30/2021, a day before my medical extension is due to expired. Just wanted to share this news. Though I am aware that due to border closure, I am not going to get PPR anytime soon but to be honest, they never told me on call that my file was approved and always said that it was in progress.

I have just received a survey from advantis that a decision was made on my application. However, as I told yesterday, I was never told that my application was approved. I am filing this survey, but should I email and ask IRCC and Ottawa VO?
I got that too and I was approved last March. I am not going to bother asking them. At this point, nothing they are going to say or do or promise is going to affect me except a CoPR in email.

Ohh. So this practically means nothing.

Subsection 16(2) is a discretionary class exemption. It requires that the institution identify how the information would facilitate the commission of an offence, then exercise his/her discretion, in accordance with the intent of the Act and the provision, to determine whether the information should be withheld from disclosure.

If the department wants to claim subsection 16(2) in such a way that does not clearly fall within the three illustrated paragraphs, it must be a situation where the information will cause prejudice in facilitating the commission of an offence. Examples of these could be sabotage, forgery, hijacking, interception of communications, kidnapping, hostage-taking, fraud, spying, possession of explosives.

There has been an increase in the use of 16(2)(c) where applicants are seeing a few pages to hundreds of pages being redacted by IRCC. Sometimes it can be beneficial to request GCMS from CBSA for such reasons.
Hi. Thanks for your reply. Is this something to be worried about?

Oh ok. One more ques please. Does it mean that the application has gone into extensive security check?
No it does not necessarily mean that, for security you should check page 2 of GCMS and see the status under the Assessment section. If you want to read more about security then see the resources https://bit.ly/3iXMnyw and https://bit.ly/3mqHP5I

I just got re-medical.. My medicals expired in October 2020. Not sure what to think of it, did they finally pick up my file?

@legalfalcon is there any possibility of me receiving PPR soon?

Everything passed since April 2020, COR: US.
I have noticed that all those who recently got PPRs were asked for re-medicals. Some received PPR with 2 weeks of re-medicals some in 2 months. Good luck. Please post here if you receive PPR.

Ok. Thanks. Page 2 says criminality passed, info-sharing complete and security not started. I thought 16(2)(c) would be written only when security has been started.

hi @legalfalcon
I am waiting for PPR – everything is approved/passed per GCMS notes (AOR Nov 2019 FSW-Outland USA). My company applied for an intra-company transfer work permit which recently got approved. I wanted to understand if there could be any implications on the pending PR application if I move using the work permit? Apart from informing IRCC of my new residence, is there anything else I need to do?
Thanks!
