Hi Everyone,

Can some one please clarify my question,

I am a Permanent Resident of Canada and I am eligible for Citizenship this May and Planning to get married in July. Can I include my Spouse name into my Citizenship application and get approval for both of us with that or do she need to first apply for Permanent resident and then do I need to do her Citizenship application later?

Also, Is Citizenship also have something like Open work permit upon applying which we can get with Inland PR ?

Thanks in advance,

Chandra

You must sponsor your spouse for PR first. Once your spouse is a PR and has lived in Canada for 3 years, your spouse will qualify to apply for citizenship. There is no way to include your spouse in your citizenship application. Your spouse must qualify on their own.
