Hello guys,
I got a job that needs me to work 25 hours/week. however permit allows to work for 20 hours. I gave my SIN to employer and other info too.
I am not sure what will happen if I work 25 hours. Will it be harmful on PR and other immigration processes?
How the immigration office will know I am working more than 20 hours??

Thanks

You are not meant to work more hours than the permit states.
The employer is also breaking the rules, 20 hours means 20 hours.

Breaking the rules can be harmful to the PR process.
Remember that you must study full-time and maintain satisfactory academic standing in order to remain eligible for the program.

Of course you may work full-time during scheduled breaks, such as summer holidays and spring or winter breaks.

It seems strange to me that you would want to do this after getting this far, just abide by the rules.

Thanks for your reply..
I got merit scholarship for my result... and now it is summer and I don't have any course.
I am just thinking to continue the work after the summer vacation ends.. this is the reason I am asking that question.
Can you elaborate how it will effect on immigration process?
Thanks again

Hi guys,
I'm getting training at my part time job and I'm a full time student with study permit. They need me to work more than 20 hours so I can get my training. Is it really bad? Can I get caught by once?

Yes - it's bad. In fact, it's illegal. Your study permit will be revoked if you are caught and you will be forced to leave Canada. Once you're forced to leave, it will be next to impossible to return since you have violated the terms of an immigration visa.

Yes - you can certainly be caught.

It is illegal and IT WILL affect your visa. CIC has records of all your tax information and they will check to see if you have violated the norms of your visa as soon as you apply for your post graduate work permit. If they miss it there, they will do it when you apply for a regular work permit. If they miss it there, they will MOST DEFINATELY look at it while you apply for your PR.

They make sure people from the US show their taxes, why the hell would they not look at it from you. YOU WILL BE CAUGHT. DONT DO IT

Dear Ola1974, Suryak86, Scylla and others,

I did not know about this until today when I read your posts. I stupidly worked full-time during my last semester (September-December, 2014). I received graduation letter from my university late February 2015. I have a valid study permit and a valid co-op work permit. I am still working full time now for the same company and I am now thinking about applying for my PGWP.

I would very much appreciate it if you could please advise me what I could do to correct this situation due to my stupidity and honest mistake. What is the chances of getting my PGWP? I am really worried. Please help.

Thank you very much in advance.

A mistake is a mistake and CIC does not really care if it is honest or not. They look at you as just one of the thousands who violated the visa norms. You need a lawyer and it will be expensive. Also, did you pay taxes during the time you worked illegaly? That would complicate things even more. Complicate because that would mean CIC already knows you worked against your visa norms, so yes ... you need a lawyer

Is it through sin number that cic get information that if we had worked more than 20hours/week?
That's one way. There are others as well - including people calling CIC to report illegal work.

As others have said, there's nothing you can do to "correct" this issue. You'll just have to apply for the PGWP and hope CIC doesn't catch the fact you worked illegally.

Dear Scylla, Suryak86, Ola1974 and others,

Do you know if the study permit will be expired 90 days after receiving official graduation letter from the university? Under the following CIC website on study/study-changes.asp, the note says that "this does not apply to you if your study permit application was received before 1 June, 2014 or if you were issued a study permit before June 1, 2014". My study permit was issued before June 1st, 2014. Does it mean that my study permit would be expired by the date indicated in the study permit, NOT 90 days after receiving the official letter from my university? Would very much appreciate your idea.

Many thanks.
