Hi, I am on a closed work permit and my kids are in India and their age is 9 years and 13 years. They have a tourist visa. Do they need a study permit /Student visa?? Plz help
No they don’t although they need special authorization to join you in Canada due to covid. There are some VOs who seem to be requiring study permits but you already have the TRVs so it won’t be a problem. If your spouse is in India she will also need special authorization to travel or a job offer. Assume you have a job in NOC 0, A or B

No they already have a TRV. For some reason some VOs have refused TRVs for some children and said they should apply for study permits. Your children already have TRVs. When you arrive you will be able to register school based on where you live. You qualify for certain schools based on where you live. You will need to provide proof of a lease or deed and perhap bill with your name and address. You will also have to decide what type of public school your child wants to attend. In most of Canada you will have the choice between English, French immersion, Catholic English and Catholic French immersion. If you are living in Quebec you may want to consider French school because if you become PRs your children will likely have to attend French school. In Quebec children of immigrants must attend French school except in very rare circumstances. You don’t need to be Catholic to attend Catholic school. What is your catchment area and how to register can be researched online. Only so much can be done if you don’t know your address.

They still must get special authorization to travel
