He paid for Feb 2nd so that means he should be checking out on the 3rd.
Hotel argues that its three days and not nights. The next argument was everyone gets their result on 2nd day and leaves the hotel.

Another important point is about the transport to hotel. Certain hotels dont offer shuttle services to the airport. So the airport staff instructed my friend to take a taxi and get it reimbursed at the hotel. But the hotel denies to reimburse, stating my friend shouldnt have paid for the taxi and the driver should have come to the reception and collected the cash. This wasnt informed by the airport staff nor the taxi driver.

So folks be very careful, daylight robbery is in action. It is not the Canada that we knew once. Get a hard copy of your checkout date while checking in and call the hotel reception before taking a taxi. Make sure you get all clarity before swiping your card, post which no one cares.

Yeah - I don't buy that.

It simply doesn't work that way and that's a bunch of BS in my opinion. Both the first and the second argument are BS.

What hotel did this? I would be all over their twitter feed and would be escalating to their complaint line. I would also tell the hotel that you're contacting the government to complain and engaging media for a story.

After some arguments the issue has been escalated to their management. Hopefully someone who completed elementary at their mgmt does the right thing. Will post the update tomorrow

Tell your friend not to back down. Your friend should be polite but very firm / insistent that a refund be given and not stop until one is received. Hotel is wrong.

Posting for a friend.

His checkin was on 28th Noon and the hotel has automatically checked him out on the 2nd Noon and billed for 3 days. Is this counted as 3 days?

He has booked a connecting flight based on the 3 day stay on the 3rd morning.

Has anyone come across this situation?
This is so stupid!! Please reveal the name of the hotel so we all don't book there.

Those who payed through a credit card...was there any foreign exchange rate fees charged on the hotel bill amount?
It absolutely will, unless you are using a credit card with no foreign transaction fees. or the credit card issues by a Canadian bank

Hey guys, are there any hotels in Vancouver which give refunds if you leave earlier because you have received test results? I wrote to Abercorn they said there is no refund and no reduction of the price if I do not want food service.


I cannot believe into my eyes what is happening in Canada now. Before they tried to give a good impression but now government allows hotels not to return money for people even if they did not give service at all and people leave earlier. awful. I hope all this hell will finish soon, why do we need to stay in a hotel if we can stay in a rent house/apartment immediately.

The government said no time to travel for vacation but then made students and workers pay this huge amount of nonrefundable money

What if the booking is non refundable and you receive your test in 24 hours, will you still be forced to leave the hotel or can you finish the stay?
