I just called CIC for 49 minutes and heard nothing else than "covid"...."sorry"..."be patient"..."they last touched your application in July 2020"..."wait"...

The agent then sent me a feedback form which I just submitted with the following:

"Hi

I fully understand there is COVID however it can no longer be used as an excuse for your processing speed at Vancouver office. You've had my citizenship application for more than a year and Vancouver office hasn't done any work on it since 07/2020 while people who submitted online citizenship applications in 12/2020 are now receiving their online citizenship test and this whole situation is very, very unfair of CIC, especially Vancouver office which is one of the slowest in Canada in comparison to other CIC offices.

Please reconsider how you deal with online applications vs older paper applications.

You received my application on 12/2019, Acknowledge of Receipt was sent in 02/2020 and you started processing it in 03/2020 however I still haven't heard back. I have submitted multiple web forms and called multiple times however nothing has changed.

I'm sorry for this feedback form but this whole situation is seriously affecting my life and I need to resolve it soon.

Thank you"

The feedback form is here: https://secure.cic.gc.ca/feedback-retroaction/feedback-retroaction-eng.aspx in case anybody else wants to fill it out.

being patient is one thing but this is like being left out. I am sure someone will argue but seeing no clear communication about the processing makes no sense. I will for sure use the feedback with complaint if i dont hear anything by next month. its been just wayyy too long to be patient.

I think the major reason its all delayed might be there is no pressure (or) urgency about citizenship applications at all. No one cares about our applications. So agents can get away easily slacking.

Once we get the AOR, and the file is transferred to local office, then it is up to the provenience to take care of those applications. Since most provinces are busy dealing with COVID situation, I don't think they are worried at all about our applications.

It was even more worrisome when I see the Dec-2020 online applicants getting test invite.

So it all boils down to one thing. We are just unlucky and applied in wrong time. Life is like that. Just accept the fact, and hope that one day all will clear up.

So those cic officers from local offices became doctor now or are they working in vaccine Logistics !!!
Its just epic carelessness/slowness of canadian government officials.
They only care about money. They are processing money grabbing visas at as usual pace like- Student visas

Here's an answer... https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/federal-public-servants-other-leave-with-pay-1.5921693

We paid them more than $800 million so they could stay home with 100% of their salary while doing literally nothing  Sometimes I wonder if those officers ever go to this forum and read our comments... while eating popcorn and laughing at us.

OMG YOURE RIGHT!!!! DECEMBER 2020 HAVE BEEN RECEIVING TEST INVITES!!! That’s insane!!!! They applied online non urgent More than a year after us and they are getting invites after only a couple of months?!?! If the process is faster online now then they should be inputting all of our applications online or at least allowing us to?! This is crazy. I’ve contacted my MP regarding this. Hopefully they will try to do something about this

It was devastating for me when i read that Applicants that applied one year after us are getting test invites. I think it is high time we bombard them with webforms stating our displeasure with this madness. I did already. IRCC is now a money grabbing scheme. New immigration programs here and there without the capacity to process already existing applications. This is becoming a joke.

My suggestion is that we as applicants who are still waiting for our files to be worked on send emails directly to immigration minister, Deputy immigration minister and other senior officials overseeing citizenship grant on the same email.
If they all don't know what's going on, hopefully this will shed some light and they realize the situation.

Thanks for sharing. I piggybacked on your feedback and made some changes. Here's what I sent:

Hi,

My citizenship application has been "In Process" for a year now. I understand COVID restrictions but I feel truly frustrated when I find out people that apply over a year after me are getting Test invites, just because they "lucked out" applying online. This whole situation is very unfair to all of us who are waiting since 2019.

You received my application on 11/29/2019, Acknowledge of Receipt was sent on 02/19/2020 and you started processing it on 02/26/2020 and dead silence afterwards. Please reconsider how you deal with online applications vs older paper applications, be fair, and give us some clear information about how the process is working. It's hard to be in the dark for an entire year.

I wish I didn't have the need to send this complaint form and I have been very patient, but this whole situation is seriously affecting my life. Also, one of the reasons I came to Canada is because I have faith in the country's systems and processes. I'm sure we can be way better than this.

Thank you.
