There will be no access to the hotels for the general public and no way to bring them food. The entire point of these rules is to keep people completely isolated, apart from limited service staff who will follow specific protocols.
Like those that deliver food inside the hotel you're held hostage in. I heard of other situations that they leave everything you need outside your door, including clean towels and sheets. You're on your on after that.
Sounds like solitary confinement where you slide your food tray under the door. No contact with anyone.

Official: https://www.canada.ca/en/transport-canada/news/2021/01/government-of-canada-introduces-further-restrictions-on-international-travel.html

As soon as possible in the coming weeks, all air travellers arriving in Canada, with very limited exceptions, must reserve a room in a Government of Canada-approved hotel for three nights at their own cost, and take a COVID-19 molecular test on arrival at their own cost. More details will be available in the coming days.

But I agree with @armoured that it will change. Hoping everything eases out by Mar-Apr
This is an official press release and not the regulations. Key will be, for example, the limited exceptions.

Could be a lot worse.

In some places they take your passport, put tape across your door, and have security in the building.
No leaving the room, no changing the sheets, and you pay for everything for 14 days including another Covid test.

Why travel now ?

Why travel now ?
I had the misfortune of applying to, and landing, a job back in Canada, and waiting until my partner's PR application came through before returning. I didn't expect a >2000$ fuck you tax per person. I've already resigned with my current employer so I will not have status past my last day at work, so I don't have the option to keep waiting.

I'm a medical worker, I am vaccinated and will benefit Canada by returning, but there are no exemptions for that.

No there isn’t . But from your previous posts all you’ve done is to be critical of anything connected with coming to Canada .
And no, you aren’t that special to get an exemption

I don't know where you get that from.

Who says I am? I am answering the question "why travel now?"

Because I have no choice. Without status in another country, the only legal place to be is in Canada.

DO NOT REPLY DIRECTLY TO THIS MESSAGE / NE RÉPONDEZ PAS DIRECTEMENT À CE MESSAGE.

Contact details of Canadian Government Offices are listed in the Help for Canadians outside Canada section below / Les coordonnées des bureaux du gouvernement canadien sont énumérées dans le section ci-dessous Aide aux Canadiens à l’extérieur du Canada.

Dear Canadian citizen,

You are receiving this email because you are registered with the Government of Canada’s Registration of Canadians Abroad service.

Flight suspensions:

The Government of Canada and Canada’s major airlines have reached an agreement to suspend all flights to and from Mexico and Caribbean countries until April 30, 2021. This will be in effect as of January 31, 2021.

For more information or to change your flight, please contact your airline or your tour operator.

Flight restrictions:

Effective midnight (11:59 PM) February 3rd, 2021, all international commercial passenger flights as well as all private/ business and charter flights from all countries will land at one of the four following Canadian airports: Montreal-Trudeau International Airport, Toronto Pearson International Airport, Calgary International Airport, and Vancouver International Airport. Flights from Saint-Pierre–et-Miquelon and cargo-only flights will remain exempt.

Contact your airline or tour operator if your travel itinerary is impacted by this new measure.

Testing and Quarantine upon arrival in Canada:

As soon as possible in the coming weeks, all non-exempted air travelers arriving in Canada must reserve a room in a Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC)-approved hotel for three nights at their own cost.

Travelers will also have to take a COVID-19 molecular test on arrival at their own cost.

Note that the mandatory requirement for a pre-departure COVID-19 testing and negative results for all non-exempted air travelers coming to Canada is still in effect. See the Flying to and within Canada (https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid/travel-restrictions/flying#health-check) page for more information on this requirement.

Testing requirements at land borders:

Similar to the pre-departure testing requirements for travellers flying into Canada, the Government of Canada will introduce a 72-hour pre-arrival testing requirement (molecular test) for travellers seeking entry in land mode, with limited exceptions such as commercial truckers.

Actually they don't need to provide clean towels and sheets. During this pandemic, many people choose to bring their own for personal hygiene reasons.

Yeah, well just cause you are vaccinated doesn’t mean you don’t have Covid. You’ll just have to deal with it.

The vaccine is ~95% effective at preventing people from catching Covid. It pretty much means I don't have Covid, actually.

Furthermore, the % of people on the clinical trial who tested positive for Covid without symptoms after receiving the vaccine was 0.1% - one in a thousand. And those might have been false positives.

I am a PR and recently returned to US to assist my 91 year-old mother with scheduling and receiving vaccine in Washington state. I was able to schedule and receive vaccine for myself as well. l'll get second shot in mid-February and then plan to return to BC at end of month. I quarantined for 14 days in September when I returned from the states (at an Air BNB) and am prepared to do so again, but it would be nice if there was some accommodation for those who have received full vaccines and have documentation to prove it. I think a negative Covid test, then quarantine for a week, then another negative test would be sufficient? At any rate, I will do what authorities require, but I had to travel to states for my mother's sake. As it turns out I was fortunate that I was also eligible to receive vaccine. I think Canada should also require truckers who routinely cross the border to be vaccinated.
