Hi everyone,

I am wondering if I can parallelly apply for PR and be an international student.

To elaborate, I am thinking of applying to a college as an international student and say I get my PR approved at the end of the first year of the course (assume duration of the course is 2 years ). What fees will be applicable to me for the second year? Will it be the same as an international student notwithstanding my PR or will it be same as a domestic student's fee?

You can apply for both. Not sure how you would get approved for PR by the end of first year. You would need an invitation soon after starting your studies first year. Then apply and wait for COPR which takes over 6 months. some have been waiting a year. Then you “land” and activate your PR. If you think you are going to get an ITA approved first year then why start studying. If you did get PR you can pay domestic fees.

Thank you for your reply. I have been trying for PR some time now. I have a CRS score of 429 and I am eligible under FSW program and I am currently in the express entry pool. But looking at the recent draws, I am not sure of my chances unless it's through any passive express entry PNP programs. So I was considering the possibility of doing my masters while being in the express entry pool for PR. Hence, the question. Any further advices are welcome. Cheers!

You will not get an ITA with 429 so you would need to complete your masters and then hope for an invitation.
