Thanks for the response. That is exactly what i want to know. What projects? How and where do i do them? How do i approach writing and publishing my own research papers? I have no clue where to start.

That depends on what you're studying, what are your interests, what resources you have, what is your capability, and what will be relevant to the course you are going to apply for.
