My parents became PR by soft virtual landing in canada on 21st September and we sent photos for the PR card on the same day....we understand that their is delays for to get the PR card ...... actually unfortunately they had to leave India on 3rd october in emergency as my Grandmother is not doing well as well as there were property related issues as well.....so if my mom only needs to come can she apply for PRTD .....but when I read the form there was point of residency obligation but they have almost full 5 years to complete that.....also my mom was with us for 1 year before she became PR on tourist visa as she was helpiy us with my new born son.....so if she needs to come back what shall I write in that section for residency obligation please advise

@gokul0989 We also landed in March 2020. They processed my wife's PR card, but didnt process mine, although we provided our mailing address. Apparently, they have abandoned my PR card application, and have asked me to apply for another PR card or PRTD. I think it might be same with you. You should check with IRCC
Hi, I have submitted a web form and waiting for a reply. I am reaching Canada on Oct 30, so I will call them directly and ask the status. May be as you said, I might have to submit another application.

1. No, we do not have to provide any documentation regarding employment or education, since we have provided them for our PR application. So, just the documents on the PRTD checklist is fine.

2. You can select 'No', as we were not accompanying any Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents who are employed by a Canadian company while being in India

3. You can select 'yes' but leave the SIN number box empty as you do not have one now. Did you not get your SIN number while you did your soft landing?.
Hey Gokul,

Need your clarification on the below:

1. Do we need to submit a copy of COPR along with PRTD application? It is not given in the document checklist

2. Do we need to attach photographs to the PRTD application? Or can we send seperately?

Thanks again!

Regards

it is mentioned that all travel documents have to be attached and copr is probably the most important one in this context.

Can anyone who applied for PRTD from India confirm if they paid the fee using their Canadian Bank account / Credit Card or you still have to pay in Indian rupees.

I want to confirm this as right now the VFS offices are closed so not sure if the email application is being assessed in India or not. The related document checklist says this :

Fee payment in an acceptable format. Verify acceptable methods of payment with the Visa office that serves your area.
Note : Visa offices cannot accept fee payments from banks in Canada.

@gokul0989 So, are you just assuming your arrival based on the fact that the border officials will let you in? You need either PRTD or PR card to enter, right?

i went through link on cic website which mentions 50 dollars and paid using an Indian International Debit card. I had my doubts but it went through perhaps because it was international debit card.

Hi,

Yes, we need to submit a copy of COPR which shows your proof of landing. That is the document which shows you meet the Residential Obligation. Also, attach a copy of the One time entry PR stamping received on your passport.

We can send separately as a attachment. I pasted my photograph on the physical application form and then scanned and mailed it. I couldn't attach it on the application form in PDF format.

Sorry for the delayed response.

I do have an approved PRTD. I have not received my PR card yet, so I mentioned that I might have to submit another PR card application.
Hi @gokul0989 Thanks for your reply. If you don't mind me asking, when is the expiry of your PRTD? Is it the date that you mentioned in your PRTD application form (as estimated arrival date), or is it some standard expiry date (e.g. 3 months or 6 months from your application date)

I received my PRTD approval through email which did not have any specific expiry date. But when I sent the itinerary to get a travel authorization, there the expiry date of PRTD was mentioned which is about 6 months from the date of my initial approval.

Oh, okay, understood. Wait, what exactly is travel authorization? I thought PRTD is the travel document you need to enter Canada as PR. Is there another application to get the travel authorization?

No, since the VACs are closed, they have introduced the option of applying for PRTD through email. They approve the prtd through email, but the stamping cannot be issued on the passport due to closure of VACs where we need to submit the passport to get the stamping. Alternatively, after receiving the PRTD approval, you plan to leave to Canada within 30 days, we can submit the itinerary to get a Letter of Authorization which allows you to travel without a counterfoil stamping on your passport. If you are ready to wait until VFS opens, then they will send passport request email after that you can submit the passport to get the stamping done.
