Hi,

Here is the timeline of events for my newborn child.

Parents: Both are Indian on PR, married in India
Child: Born in Jul-20 in Toronto
1. Apply for 5-in-1 registration (1 week received all documents)
2. Apply for passport (Received Canadian passport within 4 weeks of application)
3. Apply for OCI - postal application (express courier both ways $35*2) Documents collected on 3-Sept

Note: No documents sent were original. Photocopies of all items with self attestation of parents and minor thumb impression + 1 photo (stamped details of photo center on back)

Congratulations for getting OCI for your child. My application for OCI and surrender of Indian Passport was picked up by Purolator on 26th Sep 2020 but in status tracking application date is showing 1st Oct, 2020 and showing processing at CGI Toronto. Can you share after submitting application after how many days you started getting status from CGI Toronto website.? Regards

15 days from courier pickup, the application gets acknowledged. it takes another 20 days from acknowledgement to print and receive the OCI at toronto. Please refer my timeline for details.

15 days from courier pickup, the application gets acknowledged. it takes another 20 days from acknowledgement to print and receive the OCI at toronto. Please refer my timeline for details.

Can you further clarify that your pickup date and application date was shown same. In my case pickup date by Purolator was 25th Sep 2020 but in BLS tracking status application date is showing 1st October 2020? I feel sorry for disturbing you again and again. Regards.

So pickup date is not the application date. BLS is just the messenger, the application date is the date at which the application reach CGI toronto mission. this is found on the BLS tracking page. BLS is concerned only with sending your application to CGI and sending OCI to you once they have received.

You can go to https://ociservices.gov.in/statusEnqury where you can track status of OCI processing. Here you will see new terms: acknowledgement date. in my case this was 2 days after the application date. 20 days after the acknowledgement date, my status showed printed/dispatched/ received.

Further which is the application reference? Whether application reference printed on the OCI online application starting CANT.... is correct or OCI will give another application reference number. Application reference = printed on the OCI online application starting with CANT.
No additional reference number will be given.

I have the same status online but have not received the documents yet. Please let me know?

I have pre-paid for the purolator express courier once it is received with BLS Brampton. My understanding is once the courier is prepared and dispatched I will be notified of the tracking details. I expect same day delivery so this won;t be a concern.

To the contrary, BLS tracking is still the same, likely BLS hasn't scanned my OCI into system or is yet to process the receipt.

what do you put for file reference number?

I submitted PP surrender and OCI together on Sep-28th. When i track in BLS it just shows update for PP surrender stating that it is under processing. It does not show any update for the OCI.

it will take some time. I submitted Sep 18 together and my status changed today afternoon. so you are still looking at another 10-14 days.
