Approved in principle most likely would mean that all stages have been passed and final review is pending, which constitutes of checking if all reviews are done and sending a PPR.

You should specifically ask if your application has been approved and finalised. If yes, then the date it was approved.
Thanks for the quick response. Much appreciated.

@Aastha_chechi The average processing time as per the 2019 report for EE application was 8 months. Factor COVID for 2020, and you can predict the results.

Hey thanks for responding.... its just people who applied after me in feb, march and april already got their decisions.... that’s why just curious about what they are doing... if the delay is because of shortage of staff due to Covid-19 it should apply to everyone.... fingers crossed ... hopefully i will get something before completing my 8 months of processing

I believe that there is a lot of randomness in how applications are processed and people with similar situations can have drastically different processing times. This was even before the COVID and now there is even more confusion about how they are using their resources. An application could be processed in 2 months while an almost identical one could stay untouched for 8 months. I do not think there is any way to forecast when we will get a decision.

@legalfalcon , I was informed by IRCC call center officer that my application is "Approved in Principle". All Eligibility, Criminality, Security & Medicals are Passed. Biometrics Completed. To give you background, I am principle applicant with wife & 2 children (below 10 yrs), all in Canada.
Appreciate if you can share some light on
  1. Difference between Approved in Principle vs Approved &
  2. What happens during this stage. And if I call again IRCC, what questions should I be asking for understanding the exact state of my application.
Same boat.
Have been in that stage since June.....

I am having the same situation like you as well. FEB Aor, still waiting.
What is your status?
Hello Guys, I am new here. AOR-Feb 17,2020. My biometrics appointment has been cancelled back in March, and I have been waiting since. My last update was on Feb 27, which was my passing medical examination, and since then, my profile has not touched. I am worried sick, and can you guys give me some advice on what to do? Please. Is there anybody in a same boat as me? I sent request to them yesterday through web form and waiting for reply anxiously.

Same here, Feb 24 AOR, July 15 biometrics completed, nothing happens until now. All the ppl I know who applied at approx. the same time, or even earlier, are the same as me. Nobody received any updates yet. We are all applying from the United States.

Hi,
First of all, Thank you so much for taking your time to write to me... I really appreciate it. I have been reading some of threads here from early June, and July. It seems like a lot of people have passed eligibility among Feb AOR applicants. Mine has still the same message 'Eligibilty Under review' and it really worries me. Have you gotten any update on eligibility yet?

Is it because IRCC work has been disrupted due to the covid-19?

I am in Canada. I haven't even done my biometrics yet:)

The eligibility and background statuses in your PR profile won’t get updated with completion dates or even mentioned “passed” until you get a final decision. Most applicants get to know their eligibility and background status by calling IRCC, raising a webform or getting their GCMS notes.

Hello, thanks for your prompt reply. My friends and I all get the same eligibility status as you. I won't worry about the eligibility too much for now. In 2019, the avg processing time for FSW is 8 months. For us outlanders it is 9 months. There is yet a long way to go. Would you mind sharing how many cases have you seen that has been passed in eligibility? Also, as the above thread mentioned, eligibility is not changed alone. It won't be updated until the entire review status proceeds. I would request for a GCMS note for detailed information - this is what I am doing tonight and I will update here if anything interesting happens.

However, if you haven't got your biometrics collected, that may block the proceeding of your case. Normally you should receive a biometrics letter in 14 days after AOR. If nothing happens all these months, something may be wrong.

Hi, Thank you so much for your message.

Oh, I see. I guess they don't even bother updating the profile.... How long do I need to wait on hold these days if I call IRCC?

Hi,
Thanks so much again for the info you shared. I have been reading some threads from June and July and have seen at least 5 different people shared that they have passes their eligibility along with some other categories as well.

I got my BIL on Feb 23, and immediately secured a mid-March appoinntment at SC office here in Burnaby, BC, but it was cancelled a few days later
bcs of covid-19 concerns. I have been waiting since. They said that SC is gradually resuming service and started calling the applicants to book appointments for their biometrics. They assured no application is going to be cancelled or denied because of biometrics delay. This virus thing is really screwing up everything!

Yes, please share what your GCMS notes say here. I will also share if I hear anything new. Thank you so much again!

The profile won’t be updated at all until you get the final decision. That’s why we get updates through other means. I haven’t tried calling IRCC but other people are reporting long holds ~1 hour, then getting dropped. So suggesting to call a few minutes before they open so you’ll be at start of the queue.
