Hi All,
I have another query.. regarding POF's.. in which section(Part) of our SINP profile, do we need to update POF's details?. I did not see any separate section for this..
It's in Part 2 of the application(Part 2 will start showing up when you are done with part 1) Under
Settlement Funds and Settlement Plan

I will as soon as I have a clarity on that.
I have got following response from cips.ca
"Once you confirm which certification is required, and if it’s CIPS certification, below are the steps.

we recommend that you visit the following site and answer the questions, this will help confirm the recommended route, http://www.cips.ca/CertificationWizard

Our step-by-step application process and links to our various application forms can be found at: http://www.cips.ca/CertificationApplications

We do require a course-by-course Canadian equivalency of your degrees. A course-by-course assessment will list each course you took each year along with your marks. This is to be provided to us directly by the agency that prepares it. If you currently have a document-to-document assessment, you can obtain an upgrade to a course-by-course assessment from WES and WES will provide this to us directly.

Due to the high volume of applications that have been submitted our current processing time is approximately 2-3 months. We assess applications in the order in which they are received.

If you are granted certified member status in CIPS you are required to maintain your certified status by renewing your membership annually and also by recertifying every three years. See: http://www.cips.ca/recertification for information on the CIPS recertification process. There is no fee other than your annual membership dues for recertification. Failure to meet either one of these requirements will result in the loss of your certification status.

If you have additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Or visit the site for Frequently Answered Questions at: http://www.cips.ca/faq

Look under Certification - I.S.P. designation questions"

Looking at the above, the onus of figuring out which certification to go with relies on the individual. I have decided to go with CIPS. I am contemplating between "Edu + Exp" and "Professional Exp" route.

1) I didn't remember exactly, but they provided some example before the exam to practice, trust me, it is very easy. http://www.cips.ca/?q=system/files/CIPS_COE_final_2007.pdf

2) Yes, I have provided the scanned version of the standard reference letters ( with company letterhead)

3) I don't know about it as i am not SINP applicant yet. But since i have done my license process already, please feel free to ask if you need further info.

Cheers !!
Does your company provides detail job description on the standard reference letters?
I am having a hard time getting them to do that. Any thoughts on what else can be done in case the Reference letter is a standard one that just provides the Name, Designation, Start Date at the company, Salary and that I am currently employed with them.

if you got invitation to apply, then its required to fill in part 2 in your profile .

yes, I have got an invite. Ok.. so once I complete Part 1, then in Part 2, I will have to fill POF's as well as Spouse, Child details?
Because i didnt not see any section to fill their details in Part 1..

Master in Software Systems, B.E in Computer Science. What shall I go for APEGS or CIPS?
As per my research goes, for all Bachelor of Engineering degrees, we need to go with APEGS. Mine is also BE CS and I am taking the APEGS route..

Experts can comment though..

Hi All, I see a lot of members still confused on How to get CIPS ISP certification, Below are the steps for Education plus Experience route.

1. Upgrade your ECA report to Course by Course and mention CIPS address so they can get a copy of the report
2. Take CIPS ethics exam
3. Pay fees to become member, You will get your membership number and will be able to make a login Id after that, which would be required for step 4 and step 5
4. Pay application review fees
5. Submit application with all the supporting documents (by emailing on the application submission email id)

And Yes it would take close to 2 months to get the certification, after you submit the application.

Update - As of 21 Sep, CIPS has application backlog of 47 applicants, I checked through the tracking number they provided.

Thanks,

I had contacted CIPS regarding the certification and below is their reply -

The question I asked - What I am trying to mention here is. The Saskatchewan government expects us to get a CIPS certification for the NOC we have provided(i.e. 2174). But CIPS doesn't approve Bachelors of Engineering in Computer Science as a valid discipline and probably reject our certification request. Is my understanding right?

Answer:: This is an incorrect statement and I am referring to what is accepted at SINP and their requirements.
According to SINP, (as seen in the snapshot below) your Engineering degree in CS says that you should apply to Associate of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists. If you apply to CIPS (and you would probably qualify) SINP may reject your CIPS certification because it doesn’t apply to your engineering degree. That is why I am strongly advising you to seek advice from SINP. This will save you time and money.

But on SINP website, they have mentioned that software engineers should take certification from CIPS see the link

In my case, I have prepared the template by myself , reviewed with my reporting manager and got signature accordingly. If it is not the option for you, i think you should check with Mary Jean for the acceptable reference letter template?

Hello,

I have sent the application to WES for course by course upgrade and have also sent them the transcripts and other documents.
1) What are the next steps for CIPS certification?
2) How to start with the process?
3) Do i need to first become a CIPS member and then give the exam?
4) How long the CIPS process take to give the test and become a member?

Thanks,

Processing time depends on the volume of the applications. In 2019, it took upto 10 months. But currently, the review queue is a lot lesser than before and review time is shorter than before.

One more doubt, only after completing Part1 100%, will I be allowed to go to Part2 ? and in case i want to upload any document in Part1 later, will i be allowed?

Bcz i have mark sheet for my MCA right now, they will ask for transcripts which i will get after 20 days from now. In this case, what i should do ?

I think so. As for me, I did not even realize there is part 2 until I unearthed all the sub categories of Part 1. I think what is happening here is as soon as you generate new pages (for documentation), next page in line is ready to be rolled out. So, at a point when all the pages for part 1 has been generated (even though you may not have filled them up completely), part 2 start showing up. To figure out, whether all the pages for part 1 has been generated or not, always check for completeness of each sub-category as well as part 1 as a whole.

And yes, you can go back and forth between Part 1 and Part 2 of the application. Make sure you keep saving them as and when you update it.

To give an example:, I have a family of 4 (self, Spouse and 2 kids under ag 18) My Part 1 and Part 2 look something like this:

OASIS Options

hope this helps.
