I had mailed my application and it was delivered at SYDNEY august 29th. I am in California USA and due to COVID, I did not attach a newest FBI clearance documents because there are about 50000 people one day convinced at that time, everywhere is closed and I can not get a figure print . I have attached my old FBI clearance which was finished by April 2019(no criminal records). I had attached an explanation letter in my application and said I would like to update it when they are reopen(not sure when they will reopen). Will it influence my application? How long do I need to receive my AOR1? I am going back to HONGKONG at January 2021 to start a new job there, can I get something before I leave USA? How can I change my address or information when I move to HONGKONG?
There is a chance that we may not get AOR by Jan 2021 as they are processing only March 2020 cases now and may take several months to start processing August 2020 cases. But when I called IRCC they said that application number should be available in two months (even though the agent acknowledged the fact that they are processing only March cases now).

If and when you move, use the webform - there is also a specific address change option to inform address change.

Why are you not coming to Canada from USA as a visitor to meet your slide instead of going to Hongkong - in this way you need not worry about getting from Hongkong police clearance and also will be eligible to apply for work permit and stay with your spouse if that’s your ultimate goal. However it’s your personal choice and you probably have a valid reason - but just wanted to highlight the possibility.

And you could call and explain IRCC, they seem to be accommodative for the current situation. Also FBI clearance letter doesn’t have an expiry date as per my understanding? And you can keep trying and submit through webform when you have it.

Hi everyone .
Is there any information about AOR for August 2020 applicants? Is it true that we have to wait for January 2021 for AOR1..

I called IRCC couple of weeks back and they said they started processing March 2020 applications and will take two months for me to get AOR for August application.

After briefly reading through some of this, it sounds like they’ve picked back up with their reviewing capacity, or they just told someone that. Another website that I’ve been looking at, where people enter their cases, show mid to early March applicants receiving their AORs last week. Is mid to late January a realistic timeline to receive an AOR? Also, would a year from receiving your AOR be a reasonable timeline, given the current situation, for the process to be complete? My wife, who is sponsoring me, is a type one diabetic and insulin is straight up highway robbery, even with insurance. Just trying to figure out an estimated timeline so that we can figure out the right plan to take, even if she moves home while I wait.

Yeah Jan for AOR plus one year for decision seems right as per the current AOR timing and processing times.

I heard how amidst COVID we could bring spouse in visitor visa for family reunification and when they are here apply for open work permit. Not sure whether it changes them inland at that point and processing time - but helps in family reunification and job for spouse.

Take care.

the problem with that is that applying for TRV is 50/50 chances ...
