According to my opinion, there ain't such thing. You don't have to wait to for 5 years to get divorced. However if u could explain your issue, I might be able to give you my opinion much better, to the best of my knowledge...
Yep, that's correct.Just to add, she is responsible to support you financially for 3 years from the time you landed in Canada. It is a very good country, you should give it a try.
I see many people saying once you are landed & get divorced you do not have to leave Canada. Don't you have the be married for five years before you can file for divorce if you apply for spousal sponsorship even if you receive your PR card?
Do the five year rule no longer exists?
That's correct.No - there's no such rule.
The five year rule you are referring to is for sponsoring a new spouse if you yourself were sponsored. For example, let's say that you are sponsored for PR by your Canadian spouse. You arrive in Canada and sometime later you divorce. Then you get remarried. You cannot sponsor your new spouse for PR until five years have passed from the time you became a PR and landed in Canada.
Thank you. So basically what you are saying is once someone gets a PR card even if they get divorced or a spouse dies you can stay
To my knowledge, it would be the best idea if you can explain the situation you are in, it would be easier to than ask opinions.Thank you. So basically what you are saying is once someone gets a PR card even if they get divorced or a spouse dies you can stay
By divorcing your spouse, no one will tell u to leave Canada just because you are divorced.. Of course u can stay...Was just asking a general question because I was wondering why pet on this chat were saying even if you get divorced if it's not a marriage of convenience you can stay here
