report what - that you couldn't understand an open discussion
report your fear monger antics. Ohhh let’s all raise on the evil government for ignoring me in time of crisis. Let’s all start nagging the government for not giving me the attention I need because I’m a selfish prick. Ohh let’s take some shady info off whatever.com and make a big deal out of it so I can feel somewhat important. You know what, I don’t want them to remove it now so I can watch this lovely BS discussion of yours and where it would lead to.

Whatever dude

You cannot force your opinion onto others

If you do not believe in the ATIP / calculations / this thread - don't

Your comments on whether it is antics etc etc - are irrelevant

So regardless of all the negativity / name calling here and whether people consider any discussion fact or fiction to be BS the fact is that the number of citizenship applications increasing likely reflects the change in the requirements to apply in last few years, namely the change to 3 out of 5 and the ability to include a period of pre PR in that calculation. So a lot more people have the opportunity to apply and are taking up that opportunity.

So whether anyone wants to believe REBEL articles to be any more trustworthy than a Trump press briefing is up to them but the discussion needs to be had that a change in the qualification requirement needed to be supported with a corresponding change in government resources due to the not unexpected increase in applications. COVID of course has likely put in doubt any plans but we are where we are.

The point is still that a few months' disruption to IRCC's normal operations don't suddenly create a 17.5-year-long backlog.

This exactly.

There would have already been a 10+ year backlog before COVID-19 if that was the case. And we know there wasn't.

This whole discussion is pointless since it's not based on factual data.

Prior to Covid-19 lockdown, I read in some of these forums that Scarborough office was handling 600 cases per week. That's about 2,400 per month.
Hopefully, Canada-wide, the pre Covid-19 figures would may have been about 8,000 to 10,000 per month . So about less than 21 to 24 months to clear the backlog of 210,000 during pre-covid times

And now with the current 210,000 pending applications, what is the monthly average of completed cases and when would the pace increase back to the pre-covid levels? In absence of communication from IRCC, We can only estimate the timeline for clearance of the backlog

Nevertheless, I agree that senior forum members have more experience in these forums

I honestly have no idea why this thread turned into aimless bickering and fighting. I thought the point is to alert those who are waiting for tests/ceremonies etc to petition their MPs and government (which is your right as a permanent resident) to urge their action on the matter. Nothing is wrong with this, whether the information was from a reputable source or from NO source. I have no idea why we can't be united on something as simple as this. Everything always turns into aimless disagreement and arguing. What do you have to lose by sending an email or note to your MP on the issue? This is Canada, they aren't going to shut down your application out of spite for bugging them or have you sent to the Gulags. People petition their government officials for far less serious concerns.

We can either stay quiet or be a bit proactive and hope that they hear our concerns and try to address them. Is there anything wrong with throwing your efforts on hope based on action?

Email your MP but also realize what priorities are (econony and covid) and that PR doesn't limit most people in their daily lives so there isn't an urgent need for citizenship while there is an urgent need to focus on the economy and healthcare. There has been steps taken already. Virtual hearings have started. Dealing with testing is much more difficult since if it is online unfortunately many will cheat.

Many designations globally including many university exams are conducted online. If these can be covered, I am sure a solution through an external provider can be found. If professional exams which determine careers can be managed this way conducting a 20 question citizenship test online will not end the world. IRCC can outsource this to an external provider and the applicant can bear the cost.

There is a whole bunch of clowns who are creating unnecessary panic. Based on some woodoo calculations these geniuses are projecting a 17 year backlog !!

One of them even claimed that virtual ceremonies are happening because he and his activist buddies "pressured" IRCC. lol.
