210,930 Citizenship Grant Applications PENDING - including 42,000 awaiting citizenship ceremony and 87,000 awaiting citizenship test (as of May 2020)

Reference the thread “No update from IRCC on citizenship oath ceremony. Next steps?” , we now have IRCC processing a few virtual citizenship ceremonies.
Some people in this forum agreed with raising this issue to government officials and others did not.

Raising concerns, by the applicants to the goverment about the citizenship process delays, has played a part in IRCC initiating virtual citizenship ceremonies.

But the overall number of pending applications is huge.
And the number of cases processed daily by IRCC is insignificant.

Writing to IRCC (webform) and MPs/MPPs will NOT solve pending cases.
IRCC’s social media team & MPs/MPPs would not have the relevant authority to resolve backlog cases.

Going forward, keeping social distancing in mind, IRCC must have mass ceremonies to clear the backlog.

Mass Virtual Ceremonies &/or Mass In-Person ceremonies at stadiums, school & university grounds, parks, drive-in movie areas, etc.

Everybody with a pending Citizenship application situation must highlight their case to the government officials who would have levels of authority to implement new policies & processes.

Virtual/Online Ceremonies are great, nevertheless pending cases need to be resolved without further delay via mass online or in-person ceremonies.

I think staying quiet and hoping for the best will not be a good strategy. This will only get worse and the only way to hope for any improvements is to engage all stakeholders and raise awareness. There needs to be awareness from the media also and constant engagement of key government stakeholders to have any chance of real initiatives to try to resolve this. Otherwise everyone is looking towards a huge back log.

Another item which should also be raised is that recent unemployment and economic impact has had a disproportionate impact on new immigrants and racialized Canadians. Most new to be citizens fall into this category. I know that the Finance Minister in the fiscal update highlighted that they want to support initiatives that would help racialized Canadians. Lack of citizenship also limits certain job categories and further marginalizes the very group that needs help. This is an important area and I hope everyone engages for everyone's sake to have this resolved.

Again, this is anit true. Some jobs do indeed need citizenship, but that’s for high security clearance jobs, and if you are nominated for such a job, you get an expedite treatment. Can’t find a job because I’m not a citizen is an invalid argument. Being a PR and not a citizen yet won’t affect your life in any shape or form.

What’s your end game here? Just make everyone afraid? Make everyone desperate? Find something useful to do, or not, but don’t blabber BS with no prove. Unless you get an authentic source, stop spreading rumours.
And suddenly 17.5 years, WTF! A couple of months postponement makes a backlog of 17.5 years. Stop doing drugs kids!

If you feel Rebel News cannot be trusted with the ATIP article, then they are in a hell lot of legal trouble with the govt.
However, would a news channel publish fake news (such as the ATIP) and risk the legal trouble? Let us see in the near future!
