COPR and coronavirus

I am planning to do a soft landing at the start of Aug before Copr expires as there is nothing official to say that I cannot come into the country. I am exempt from travel restrictions as stated. I would argue that it is essential - for us personally, because of Covid, it would now be almost impossible for me to get another police check from my country of birth - it is very difficult for the best of times - I actually had to fly back just so the 'officials' did it properly. Getting medicals redone is also tricky as we live very far away from our nearest approved clinic. As it is not clear what will happen to these, and it still says on IRCC website that they need to be valid, we are not willing to take the risk. Also, our trip does not fall into any non-essential category listed at the bottom footer of IRCC website - tourism etc.

I raised a webform last week to IRCC to get clarification on this but have not had a reply (how long do they take to reply at the moment?). It is getting to the point that I need to let work know what I am doing and we need to book flights etc.

My only worry is now that the immigration officer will have access to my webform at the airport and see that we intend to fly back 3 weeks later. However, even if this is the case, I am confident that I can argue my need is essential and there is nothing stopping me from doing what I am doing. I realise this is a risk, but I will have done everything asked on their documentation.

I also think / hope that because flights from the UK are starting to open up from end of July, Service Canada Centres are starting to reopen and these travel restrictions are to the 31st July - that some restrictions will be lifted by then and a trip from August may be a little easier (still with quarantines in place).

I think I will wait another day or 2 to get a response from IRCC before booking everything and will update as and when.

So no one from FSW Outland applicant whose COPR has expired has received the latest email which states those 3 conditions for travel, right?! It seems only PNP applicants with Sydney as VO are receiving the same.
I was really hopeful that they would do something by June end...now the wait seems to be never ending. Cannot continue to have life on a pause mode anymore.

hahah this is expected from them. These are Repatriation flights are only operating to evacuate foreign nationals, Canadian Citizens and PR holders. They might not even know what CoPR stands for lol. VB flights are also Repatriation flights for evacuating Indians from abroad but they are making money by allowing to onboard people from India to make money both ways.
Kudos to our Indian government. They really know how to make money in this pandemic

If Canada says they have closed its borders to US then why are they allowing US nationals and spouses of US nationals into their country through these repatriation flights? US is actually the worst hit country in this pandemic.

So true...It is summer outside, I am currently in the most beautiful city of our country, renting an appartment in one of the most amazing places of the city, have plenty of free time - but cannot enjoy it. Really, living in a pause mode, constantly checking the news, IRCC site, this forum.

Not healthy to keep waiting like this. Looks like we have to keep a deadline for ourselves and move on.

You should do it now and mention in your web form that -

Air India has resumed evacuation flights operated under the Vande Bharat Mission from India to Canada from June onward. Thus, I am writing to inform that we are now interested in travelling to Canada. We request you to please consider our request to provide extension on our expired COPR and PRV documents. Please advise us on the next steps to follow.
I have written the same content. But what if you are not able to travel even by september.Though its highly unlikely that they will not open flights till then.

COPR Issued - March 19
COPR Expired - April 23
Raised Webforms - Not able to travel - Before and after COPR expiry
Raised Webform - Ready to travel - June 8
Ghost Update in CIC profile - June 27
Called CIC - July 1 - Medicals Extended to Sept 25. (5 months from COPR)
Visa Office - NDVO
But your copr issue date is after 18th March. And exemption is for copr holders with approval date before 18th March.Isnt it?

Dear Mr. .........

Thank you for your email.

Green card / Permanent Residents / Work permit holders for the USA / Canada are not allowed on the flights operating as repatriation flights.

Please note that at the moment we have permission to transport US/Canada passport holders.

INDIAN Nationals holding US green cards or Canadian Permanent Residence status are only permitted on this special repatriation flight if he/she is a spouse of US/Canadian National.

You are requested to carry a spouse passport copy as a proof of he/she being the spouse.

If you don’t fulfil one of the above criteria, you will not be eligible to travel on the Repatriation Flights.

Stay safe. Stay healthy.

Thanks and Regards,

Anuj

Hahaha I Got the exact same reply from Lufthansa as @mr1989 ...... now i wonder if we should spam DGCA twitter to allow us COPR holder on these flights..... or should we do a VR marriage with Canadian or US national :p:p.... @SithLord @bun_b any thoughts ?

So where can advertise here for Canadian/US Nationals wanted for marriage to board Lufthansa repatriation flights?
