You're in F-1 so don't worry yet. But you may want to ask your lawyer to file an amendment asking for change of status after you return
That is the plan Bro! I will speak to my company to file an amendment after a successful return. Until then, keeping fingers crossed..

Feb2020: Received new I797 with consular notification. Went to cbp office and got the new paper I94 based on new I797 while having the visa valid till 14March2020(base on old I797 but for same employer ).
10March2020: Starting period of working from home.
17Mar2020: Sent the passport in hurry after seeing the consular alert on suspending visa. Luckily they stamped it on 20th for the new petition and sent me back.
23Jun2020: Reentered US just to keep the status current. While entering i showed the pages of old visa and I94 . cbp did not issue new I94 even though it was more than 30 days since my last entry but let me in with the last i94 that was issued in March(after verifying if its currently valid).
Hi,
Where did you sent your passport for stamping?
Which CBP office you went to get new paper I94?
Thank you!

Is it Deferred Inspection Site? Sorry never heard that we can go to CBP office and get new paper I94. Is it while coming back from Canada to US or directly going to CBP office?
Thank you!

No, at the office where secondary inspection happens when travelers are inspected and their vehicles.
I call it cbp office (i assume it is as there are cbp officers working in the port of entry in an office building:))

My spouse is a Canadian citizen and has an approved I-797 for job starting next month. He should be good to enter US as EO does not seem to apply to Canadians. I am an Indian citizen and Canadian PR and was not able to get H4 stamp before this EO. I do have a B1/B2 visa stamp issued. Can I enter as B1/B2 with my spouse or will that cause issues with the border official ? I intent to live for 2 months and then head back and hopefully get H4 visa next year.

ybx1250 mentioned about something along these lines. Also, with COVID-19, I cant enter B1/B2 via land border crossing. So, if it is possible, we should fly together ?

As long as you can satisfy that your stay will be temporary.
What can I use to convince officer about that ? Job in Canada, return plans etc. My concern is that if I plan to live for 2-3 months, my evidence of job in Canada wont be of much help as officer can ask whether I intend to work remotely for my Canadian employer in US.

Seeking B1 to join H1 spouse was not pleasant experience for my colleague's wife. Consult a lawyer.

You should always seek right status for a specific purpose. Seeking some status just because not having a right visa is trouble and damage for long term in your profile.

I know that its cruel to separate families. This is what this administration is famous for. So we should be more careful in dealing with situations like these. Even its affecting similarly.

3 months ago when we were seeking entry for just a day, i was giving reasons on why we go and stuff, at that time i told that we are going to US at so and so place because we will be moving to US during this summer. Then the cbp officer told that i should remember to get H4 for my family for which i told that we already have appointment and will surely get H4 before we move. Just because my family has B1, can i now move to US with my family till visa appointments are available? No, i cant/shouldnt. I will still be commuting as i cant move with my family.

What can I use to convince officer about that ? Job in Canada, return plans etc. My concern is that if I plan to live for 2-3 months, my evidence of job in Canada wont be of much help as officer can ask whether I intend to work remotely for my Canadian employer in US.
Very true, its tough to convince for longer duration travel. Remotely working might be believable due to covid but it depends on officer though(as usual).

Ideal scenario would be for my spouse to go alone and start working and then hopefully, next year I can apply for H4 and join him.

But, as a recommendation, if I want to accompany him on B1/B2, is it better to go together or should I enter later by myself after my spouse starts working on H1B ?

B1/B2 is non-essential travel. if you are accompanying spouse, it has to be H4 visa (whether going together or entering later.)
