You may wish to search other threads with titles related to the name of the specific program you applied under. Did you adopt your niece? Or is this under the so-called 'lonely canadian' program?
Armoured, once again, right on! Yes, we are using this clause (h), the "lonely Canadian clause"
Statistically, only 400 people a year immigrate through this program, that's why it's hard to get some concrete info on this.
She is not an orphan, her mom is still alive, so adoption is out of question. And, she is 25, it's a bit unorthodox to adopt 25 year olds, even for Canada.... : )
If anyone has any interesting information re: this program, I would really appreciate all you effort, thank you.

I think so. Hope to be one of them who will receive something pleasant from Warsaw :)
Definitely, my friend! Best of luck to you, I truly hope you and my niece will be in the country by at least Halloween, to start language school in January already, I am sure we will miss all September start deadlines, for this year.....
I also hope that students will go back to actual physical schools by January 2021, and the current language programs for immigrants won't be redone for online education

Our case is very straight forward, no redflags. It just took forever for them to review the file.
How many pages was your application? There are already 4-5 applications received after mine was that and were approved much faster. Wonder what the reasoning for this is.

Mine is a regular standard application, my sponsorship and her PR applications have been sent together to Sydney in mid October 2019, minimal paperwork, just what the checklist asked for, I sent 1 page passport photocopy and 10-12 pages of the C-print-out, a CRA form detailing my income for 2018
My niece filled out 0008, Schedule A and she had to co-sign my 1344, this is it....
Oh, I also submitted my Letter of Employment, but it was not necessary if I already had the C-printout...

Have you emailed them recently?

Yes I have. The last I heard was a month ago and the officer just said that "it will be reviewed as soon as practicable". I just sent another email for an update just then.

Will do. It's been 7 months since the AOR2 update, nothing since. Just don't understand why it takes so long for some background checks. I haven't been asked to provide something else yet, so I would hope that IRCC has everything required.

Did you have to submit any paperwork with your application?
Are they able to do Security/Background check without the Police certificate?
We received AOR1 back in February, and we were not asked to provide any paperwork yet....
I am not sure it's really needed at this point.

Have you ordered the notes recently? In my opinion, they either forgot about your file or had to do extra checking for some reasons. For example, when we ordered our notes we found out that before they approved my partner they sent a request to a social assistance organization. It was said “despite protocols I decided to send a request...”. It delayed everything for 1,5 months. Maybe something like that happened to your case. And also not to mention Covid19 situation.

I got my MP to check on the status. I received this back on May 28:
  • The application was received at the Case Processing Centre in Sydney (CPC-S), Nova Scotia, on August 22, 2019.
  • The initial assessment to ensure the sponsor meets all the sponsorship requirements was finalized on September 24, 2019.
  • The responsible office is currently reviewing the application and documents submitted to determine if the sponsored person (the applicant) meets the eligibility requirements,
    • the assessment for the applicant is still in process at the Canadian visa office in Warsaw, Poland.
  • The medical examination results are on file and valid until October 08, 2020 for the applicant.
  • The criminality verifications are in process.
  • The security verifications have not been initiated.

Wow, you've gone as far as ordering notes?
What's the process for that?
Where did you get information for this? Interesting, I would love to look it up, just in case (na sluchay)…. : )
