Hi everyone,

I have a brother and we are both in Canada under a student permit. I am trying to apply for my Study Permit extension.

We are living in the same address, I am not sure how to answer this question "Are you accompanying a family member who has status in Canada?". Anyone have real experience?

Thank,

Jenny Dao;)

Brother isn't a family member by Canadian immigration standards. And he isn't accompanying you in any case.

I am applying for BOWP and extending my son's Study permit (dependent), in the questionnaire (Are you accompanying a family member who has a status in Canada?
I am confused because I am the main applicant, and he is accompanying me, so should I answer yes or no? in both cases I will upload his study permit in client info. if I say yes they will ask for it as proof of family status in Canada.

Click the little question mark next to the question there will be an explanation. I think that is only for those traveling together not already in Canada but cant remember.

This is what is says

Accompanying a family member means you will be staying with a family member who is already in Canada as a visitor, worker or student.

Accompanying family member: A spouse, common-law partner, dependent child or grandchild of someone who is still dependent on their parent, who plans to immigrate to Canada with the principal applicant. Accompanying family members are included on the application.

In my case, he will be staying with me, and we both are in Canada but I think I should say yes, because of the last phrase
