I think that dude is only being sarcastic
Sorry but I am not being sarcastic. I am just being realistic. I feel people commenting here the fact that within month or so we will see score drop below 450 and all in the pool getting chance is like giving all those fake hopes. Think about it the way this score went up and suddenly you think corona virus will benefit to those already in pool. If IRCC really wanted the score to come down, they would have done the regular draw and I am pretty sure score would have been below 470. Even some people say this score distribution is from March 13 but even if it was March 18 the pool distribution wouldn’t have changed much because the next ielts result was on 18 March which means it takes still some days to receive TRF.

In January when i entered the pool I was at 455 and I thought I had no chance to get ITA looking at trends of score at that time. Then I gave ielts again and increase my score to 469. Once my score changed to 469 on 14th Feb after my ielts result. I was like now I am surely going to get ITA sooner. But looking at current trend the way latest draw came. I really believe 469 is not coming any time soon. Maybe I need to improve my ielts again that will help.

Ok, here's my take on things...

Scores dropping to 450 seems unrealistic at this point in time. There are too many applicants in the pool at 460+ that need to be removed from the pool first.

However, high 460s does seem like a possibility. Anything above 450 is generally difficult to achieve. That being said 440+ generally means an applicant is University-educated with at least 1 year of experience. Since EE first started these have always been favourable candidates to immigrate to Canada. In relation to implications that IRCC is skipping draws to keep the CRS above 470, that seems a bit unrealistic... but never say never. Alternatively, they could have been forced to postpone a planned draw on the 18th in reaction to the pandemic, and were rushed to implement new procedures to allow continuing intake of applications. If that were the case then a PNP-only draw makes sense if they wanted to limit the number of candidates. This would allow them to test new procedures for handling applications on a sample group before implementing the changes more broadly.

Anyway, back to why I think a high 460s draw is possible...

For an outland applicant achieving a CRS of 470+ is difficult unless you max IELTS, have 3 years experience, and ECA equivalent to Masters.

For an inland applicant achieving 470+ is difficult without at least 1 year of Canadian experience or an LMIA-approved job offer.

With the ECA and language organisations suspending operations, and employers not likely hiring and letting people go, there's going to be a slow down in people entering the pool for the time being with the required language results, Educational equivalency, and possibly some who won't meet work experience or settlement funds because of loss of work.

There's also the possibility that people may decide that due to the current situation they will postpone any major plans until things are more certain.

This also relies on IRCC, who will need to maintain regular draws in order for the points to drop. Unless they come up with a system to handle the 7000-8000 ITAs they issue per month they may choose to suspend draws. Or draws may become even more irregular, with longer gaps between and erratic numbers of ITAs being issued, based on how quickly they can process applications at any given time.

With no comment from IRCC as of yet, we can assume that, once they have implemented new procedures to handle applications, they still intend to work toward immigration targets (which they confirmed only 8 days ago).

I feel really bad for anyone who has had their application put in jeopardy because of COVID-19, and hopefully things will turn around soon and we can get back to business as usual. We all know how stressful this process can be. Stay healthy all and here's hoping things change for the better asap. The above are just some of my thoughts in regards to the developing situation.

Its always good to try to maximize your score by even 1 point. But the question now is the current situation with the virus, which people leaving in countries not affected greatly are not understanding. Jobs are being cut by thousands in every sector almost daily, not hundreds, by thousands. If this thing continues for some months, unemployment could go up to 15% easily. And it might, because Canada is not enforcing restrictions like China did. With this uncertainty around the horizon, the government would just withhold draws as nobody wants to pour more people inside a dead job market. Imho, if you have a job, do not leave it for any reason and do not make long term plans, as what is happening is out of our control.

That’s not completely true, CELPIP has closed for testing indeed everywhere;however, IELTS still open as long as you are taking the computer version and not the paper version. I’m retaking my IELTS this upcoming Monday. I guess it really depends on your local test-taking IELTS facility and their protocols they are following to deal with the crisis. In other words, you will still have candidates coming in to the pool with higher test scores, but not that many.
I don't think that's necessarily true. Computer-based tests have been cancelled in multiple locations, sometimes for longer than paper-based. Nevertheless, all the test centers affected by the shutdown can be found here: https://www.ielts.org/news/2020/covid19-information-for-our-global-test-taker-community

Good luck with your test on Monday. :)

Omg why do people like to argue in this forum so much . THat being said, thanks anyway. And it mainly depends on the test taking facility, but this could change next week and IELTS might close everything like CELPIP did. There’s a lot of uncertainties at this time.
lol You tell me!

I've only shared information direct from IELTS. Check the link for yourself. Everything I've stated is true. All the closed locations are listed right there, including dates. And some computer-based tests are suspended longer than the paper-based tests that are delivered at the same centers.

Give me some tips to increase Ielts score
Just had bad score in listening before when I was at 455 with LRSW - 6.5,8,6.5,6.5. After I gave exam increased listening bands from 6.5 to 8 which increased my total score to 469. Now I think I can increase atleast .5 band in speaking which can bring my total to 477. So when the corona virus situation will becom better I will give ielts again to increase speaking bands. I just didn’t do anything special just practice.

To those who believe that the pool is going to get empty soon. There's over 140,000 applicants and Canada's this year target is around 90,000 for EE. Do you really think it's gunna get empty even if IRCC achieve their targets. I don't think so. Unless I am missing out on something here
