Hi guys, I recently received my COPR and I was planing to move to canada next week. However a state of emergency was announced in the country I live in because of the covid 19 and I'm not allowed leave the country in the next month.
Would the IRCC expand my COPR in case the emergency state lasted more than my COPR validity?

I'm sure IRCC is working on an announcement. I believe they will have to extend COPR expiry dates for those impacted. That's just my opinion.

I hope they do, they haven't replied to any emails I have sent asking for the same info

Hello,
We are in the same boat. Valid till 8 May. We made booking for 7 April in January but because of all this Covid-19 we don’t what would be the situation in uk after 3 weeks. How did you request to extend and did they provide a reason for declining?
Many thanjs

Can you provide details? When does your CoPR expire? Where are you from? When did you file an extension request? What did IRCC respond?

Cheers!
COPR expires on 4th April. I am from USA. Filed my extensions request on 9th March. I mentioned that our state has declared emergency, banned large gatherings and told them about our toddler son who will be traveling. But they rejected. The person said 'Upon review of your request to extend the validity of your visa, I am not satisfied that there are factors beyond your control that prevent you from landing in Canada prior to the expiry of your visa. The validity of your COPR and/or visa will not be extended'.

what does large gatherings have to do with landing in canada. as long as thier borders are open you can land.

Virus spreads with large gatherings, which is unavoidable at airports and in planes
That’s true but still the borders are open. They haven’t put up a travel ban hence if you don’t travel because of the chances of catching the virus then that is personal choice. If the country goes into lockdown I think only then they will extend copr. We are thinking to travel in couple of days for soft landing and come back after 2 days.

I'm surprised they aren't being more understanding. Immigrating at this time is going to be so much more difficult with so many things closing and limited supplies.

You don't have to move to Canada right now. You can do a soft landing and return to your country.
