You might be right or not but college and other institutes itself requires Academic for admission so there's no choice except academic. IELTS General is usually for PR, also it is not sure whether embassy accepts general or not, so i don't think if he should take any risk.
I don’t know where are you getting those information. Ielts Academic is recommended however if you have ielts general most schools accepts it anyways.
there is no set rule for getting bvl and ppr together sometimes same day, some times weeks. It all depends on several factors like background check, criminal checks etc
Purpose of visit is a very weird reason oder gcms notes first there you will find the actual refusal reason
For bachelors they might cause i applied ib University of ottawa and they didn't even ask me about IELTS i hadn't even taken ielts at that point and they gave me offer letter but general ielts wont work for masters i think or maybe even that depends on different unis
Our timelines are exactly the same. I applied under non sds on jan 8th. Did my biometrics on 16th jan. It was updated onto my account the same day. From there no updates. Not even a confirmation/correspondence letter or medical request. No messages. Still waiting...

I am assuming you applied under non sds. What is your time line? We can’t say for sure what does it means it could be your medical request is on the way or there are chances your application is rejected too. Good luck!

That’s why I’m stressed out. They haven’t asked for a medical yet. Does that mean they’re refusing the visa. Which is why they may have sent a correspondence letter? I’m so confused.
