Hey guys please help me . So my study permit and visa expire on 31 March. I haven’t submitted an application to extend it yet. However I would like to travel to the US during the February reading break for one week. My question is will I be allowed entry into Canada on February 23 with a study permit that’s expiring on 31 March? Has anyone ever been in this situation. As far as I’m concerned my documents are still valid until 31 March.

No one can guarantee anything but you should be fine. If your studies go beyond March 31st, you really should apply for an extension now. Apps are taking 3+ months right now.
Yes I’m going to apply however when I was on the website I saw a post that says if I apply to extend and I leave I can come back but since applications are taking 3 months right now by the time I come back they wouldn’t have made a decision on my application, therefore the border agent may let me in as a visitor and I’d have to show them that I enough money to stay. So I’m thinking of applying for the extension when I’m back to avoid entering as a visitor.iv been trying to contact IRCC and I can’t get through
Thst is only if you return to Canada AFTER your current permit expires. As long as you are returning prior to March 31st, you will enter as a student.

I also noticed that in the Canada website it states that a person who applies to extend before expiration will be under implied status and if I return on 23 February under implied status they will let me in but will ask me to show proof of funds and I won’t be allowed to study until a decision is made. Now I’m very confused
Again, your study permit will still be valid when you return, so you will enter as a student and will NOT be on Implied Status.
