Hello,
My parents became permanent residents of Canada on July 21, 2014 and their PR cards are expiring on Sept 05, 2019. I'm currently filling out the application form for renewal of permanent resident card and having trouble with questions #21 and #22. In short, I'm really confused about when to send in (or eligible to send in) my application.
#21
According to their travel history, they have stayed outside Canada for 1107 days which is just 12 days more than required and none of the situations from #22 applies to them. They will meet the residency obligation on August 02, 2019. In this case, what dates should I enter in the period to be assessed?
From July 21, 2014 to July 21, 2019 - # of days in Canada is 718 days
From July 21, 2014 to Aug 02, 2019 - # of days in Canada will be 730 days
Q.1) Can I enter July 20, 2019 to August 02, 2019? (This is more than 5 years)
Q.2) If the period to be assessed has to be a 5 year time span strictly (a rolling time span), they'll meet the residency obligation in February 2020 since that's when they made their first trip outside Canada. Should I sending the application for PR renewal in February 2020?
Q.3) Can they stay in Canada even after their PR card expires?
Thanks,
