You CAN link it to the Principal applicant's account. Which paper application are you trying to link?
  • If it is the Sponsorship application you are trying to link, use the UCI you got with the AOR email.
  • If it is the OWP application you are trying to link use the Principal Applicant's UCI (the one used for Visitor Visa if applicable).
For more detail review the 'Linking to MyCIC" tab on the spreadsheet. Also review this post https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/september-2019-inland-spousal-pr-owp.652600/page-21#post-8303149.
Thank you for this information.
I tried putting UCI that I got for the sponsorship application and PRINCIPAL applicant's application details.
It is still saying no application found.

For the application details will it be the sponsor's details or principal applicant's details?

Lastly, if you do not mind one more question.
Can I apply for her OWP now with this AOR that I got for sponsorship's application? I did not apply together.
Thanks a lot for your time.

The UCI you got with AOR is your sponsor's UCI. You need the PA's UCI to link the PR application to the PA's account. You should be able to use the application number and other PA details to link to the PA's account...but assuming you had an account from a previous work permit/visitor permit etc., use the UCI that's in the PA's account.

You can apply for the OWP now, in paper (see link: https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1163&top=17) but it will take you longer than if it had been applied with the PR application. Estimated time is 4-5 months to get OWP from the time you apply.

Can I apply now her OWP online? Or I must apply it by paper?

Hi all,

I received my OWP letter that became in force from Nov 22, 2019. I landed here on visitor visa. Does OWP mean that I am ‘in status’ now, or I will need to apply for TRV/visitor visa extension before 6 months are up since entry into Canada?

Many thanks,

Check the link I provided. :)

"If the permanent residence application has not been approved in principle:

Approvied in Principal is pretty late in the process, so if she's early on, you'll have to apply by mail. Follow the links to the guide, get the checklist, provide all of the documents, and send it off! Good luck!

Hi @avijitmallick,
you can ask question, browse and read from their website cic the following:
how to apply:
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/work-canada/permit/temporary/apply.html
and by the fees:
https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1361&top=4

if it is me in your case, i will apply online since you already got your AOR hence you are qualified as <you’re waiting on a decision on an application for permanent residence from inside Canada>. If the application is available online, I think it is recommended that way as process time is usually quicker, just how I understand it by my browsings. Kindly correct me if I am wrong. Bonne Chance!

Hi guys, anyone that applied in September any word on OWP????
Things seem to have stalled now. On the spreadsheet, the last OWP reported is from Nov 30 2019. Sadly, many applicants aren't willing to anonymously share their data on the spreadsheet - especially for September compared to other months. This stymies the ability to accurately track trends. :(

Edit: Also processing times are back up to 9 weeks.

Application was received Sept 11th, and OWP approval was 29th November, just waiting to receive it by mail.
Fingers crossed things move for everyone tomorrow to have some movement this week! It seems things are going very slowly!

After OWP, is it still required to extend the visitor visa in case 6 months are up? Tried looking for this info everywhere and must have read 200+ blogs but there isn’t anything in black and white. Perhaps best to call immigration folks.
