Hi,

I and my wife are Canada Permanent Residents. We are expecting our child in November, and she is currently in India with her Parents (I dropped her in India in June). I am doing my groundwork before I create a sponsorship application for the child after birth.

I would like to know - as the application process is paper-based, should my wife complete the application IMM 1344 as co-signer or can I leave the co-signer field as "no" - in which case she does not have to fill any details.

Another question - I will be traveling to India, and plan to stay there for a couple of months and return after that. I will not be vacating my residence in Canada.
In this case, could I go ahead with the application process immediately after the child gets the birth certificate and passport and send the completed application forms from India, but with the address in the forms as the Canadian address or will there be any problem?

Thank you!

Thank you for the clarification.

Could you kindly advise if you have any inputs on the co-signer part?

There is no need for her to be a co-signer.

To reiterate the previous post, you cannot apply for sponsorship and then leave Canada for several months. You need to apply when you return to Canada.

Hi , I hope you are all doing good. I have a query regarding child sponsorship. I came to Canada in July on PR (Returning immigrant ) and applied for dependent child sponsorship who was living outside Canada (outland PR) , along with that I also applied TRP so that we can live together as a family. TRP was granted and child is here in Canada. In parallel to this sponsorship is also approved and medical request is received today , the medical letter has address of back home but child is with us in Canada. So I have below questions.

1. Can we have his medical's test in Ontario (As we are living in Ontario)
2. Should I update the CIC about change of address of my son.
3. Will changing address has any negative effect or delay in application.

Thank you

Thank you for prompt reply. One more thing , so after medical where will they send the PPR ?I mean where will I send my Son's passport . Since he is already in Canada so what will be the steps after medical ?
You will send it to Ottawa.

How much time it takes for PPR of minor child whose medical is received and updated in ECAS. Note that his PR is being applied under family sponsorship program.
