Hi All,

My status is as below:

Application sent Apr 25th
AOR : june 16
Medicals & Bio-Metric done: July 16
and my status shows as, Background check in process since then. I also saw lots of postings that they have called CIC (they mention that their file is with particular visa office), but when i called the automatic response is, for out-land applications have to check the website.

Can anyone please suggest how do i know the next steps or in what stage my file is? will it take 12 moths as mentioned or will it be done before that.

Thanks in Advance

to be able to call them from outside Canada firstly, download an App called HANGOUTS, then call them through the App on this number +1(613)9444000.

Welcome to the club!
We got AOR1 on May 23rd and nothing ever since.

We called them in the end of July and they said that our application was put on hold. The agent then told us to call back one month later because he'd request a reason for the hold up. So when we called again in the end of August, they told us that it is unusual what they see because our application was marked as incomplete. Normally the whole application would be returned or they would ask for additional documents but no such thing happened for us. So the agent said that they would request a more detailed reason why our application is on hold and then said to call again in 2 weeks. So we waited again for another two weeks and this time the agent said that they had not yet heard back from Sydney so we should call again in 2 weeks. That was this Tuesday and we still have no clue what is going on. They still didn't receive an answer from Sydney and this agent said that generally when they sent a request, we should wait 60 days before calling again. So that is what we are at. We will call again at the end of October and I honestly don't know what we will do if they still can't tell us anything. Hire an immigration lawyer I guess. :(

The last agent also said that you can contact Sydney directly via webform and that it would be just as fast as them getting an answer.

I know this probably isn't helpful to you but it is good to know that you are not alone, I am sure.

I will suggest apply for GCMS notes asap and also ask for status using Webform.

As per the trend 3-4 weeks to get PPR if your file processed at Mississauga, if it gets further transferred to your country VO then it may take more time.

I will suggest apply for GCMS notes asap and also ask for status using Webform.
I thought that they can only be ordered once the file has been transferred. Would they say what the problem is for sure? And the agent on the phone said that the webform would be redundant at this point because they already requested information. Are you suggesting that maybe it will still be faster to ask again ourselves?

You can apply for notes at any point of time. It will give you very detailed notes by each officer who worked on your file which IRCC cannot see. Sometimes notes request also helps in movements of your file. GCMS notes takes atleast 25-30 days.
My file is still at Sydney since April 4th and have received my notes. You should also apply asap.
