Hello all,
I received PPR mail and need to send my passport..
If everything goes well I am planning to land in October.
My question is
My H1b stamping expired in Jan,19.I got my extension approved till Dec,2020..So I have i94 till 12.20.but my passport is not stamped.
I can go to Canada for 2 days and come back with AVR process..is there any risk with it?like can they deny entry to usa while coming back?

Yes, you can use AVR. There is no additional risk.

Ok..thank you
What all documents should I carry to enter back to usa?
Do I need any letter from my company as I don’t want to tell them about Canada PR right now?
Normally they don't ask for anything other than passport and approval notice. But in general, irrespective of AVR, it is advisable to carry employer letter, LCA, recent paystubs, client letter if applicable etc. You don't have to tell the employer about PR, you can tell them that you are traveling for leisure.

Question - I last entered the U.S. on a valid F1 visa (still valid) but my status has recently changed to H1-B. I know that my [valid] F1 visa doesn't mean anything now. I am assuming that I can travel to Canada to visit family for a few days? If so, what documents do I need? I do have the valid H1-B receipt with dates and the I94, along with my employment documents of course. Appreciate your help!

I assume you mean approval notice and not receipt notice. That will be sufficient.

If you have already scheduled your interview, avr cannot be used to re-enter US.

A person is eligible for automatic visa revalidation provided the following conditions are met:
  • .......................
  • The person does not have a pending or rejected application for a new visa. Since it is not possible to renew a non-immigrant visa in the U.S., a person on a non-immigrant visa may travel to a nearby country to apply for a new visa.

The interview is for a future date, it will not have taken place. So, it will be fine.

My initial h1b is pending, is it advisable to go to canada and come back within 30 days? also, how recent does a i-20 need to be to enter usa? if my subject session dates have ended but cpt(work) authorization is still valid is it ok?
