I realised tonight that the reference letter from the company I claimed a year of Canadian work experience for is out of date - it was issued in December 2018. I only reached year of work experience in May 2019.

The letter did state I was FT permanent as well as hours and salary. I don't believe it was enough evidence. I have already applied for PR and my medicals are already passed.

I just submitted the following additional documents (in one pdf) using the web form:
  • 2018 tax year NOA
  • 2018 tax year T4 issued by my company
  • Two pay stubs from July 2019.
I also stated I was working on getting an updated letter with newer dates.

Do you think it's overkill? Are the documents I just submitted good enough, or should I get the updated reference letter just to be safe?

If you are still working for the same company, then you should submit a new letter with the new date.

Thank you. I requested a new one already and am picking it up today you don't think it's too late, right?

No, it should be fine.
