Hi All,

I have the Canadian PR but currently reside in US. My spouse is planning to move to Canada and I will accompany her for the initial setup. I plan to fly back in a week or two. I would like to get my H1b visa stamped while I am there but I do not see any appointment available.
There are however a lot of appointments avaialble if I answer the question:
Are you traveling from another country to apply for a U.S. visa in Canada? - NO

  1. Can I as a permanent resident select NO?
  2. I believe during document check they ask for proof of residency. Is PR card proof of residency?
  3. Do slots open up from time to time?
  4. I am aware I can use AVR, getting the stamping done is the best case IMO.
  5. This will be for extension, my stamp expires August.
Thanks

6. Are you traveling from another country to apply for a U.S. visa in Canada? - NO

6. You should be telling Yes. Tell what you do currently. If you lie then the passport will have the recent entry to Canada in it.Both countries share entry and exit hence using PR card for entering wont help to hide.
1. You should be telling about PR of Canada in the place they ask.
2. PR card is of course not proof of residency. not sure how you can ask this question. They dont ask but they can see that you flew just now from your passport.
3. Waiting time for nonresidents of Canada is long. since you are not moving i dont think that you would get the time slot soon.
4. Travelling between US and Canada doesnt require stamping when it comes to your few trips. Risk is more if you apply for visa and gets delayed. In AVR, you dont need to worry about it.
