Hello,

I did a quick 1 minute Google search and found that even if you have travel document from Australia you are required to get a visa to travel outside Australia and return so YES you need a visa for Australia. I don't think there will be interview if you get the visa.

Of course this is the case if your country of origin requires Visa to Australia. Call them to confirm.

http://www.border.gov.au/Lega/Lega/Mana/document

Documents issued to refugees (a visa is required)

For USA, YES you need a visa even if you are a PR unless your country of origin doesn't require you to get a visa for USA even if it is transit.

Hope this helps.

Regards

Hi LoveCanada,

Could you please let me know if you know that transiting through UAE states (Doha, Dubai or Abu Dhabi) is possible for going to Thailand from Toronto? Do you have any reasonable airline recommendations?

Thank you!

Yes Easy, Yes im Protected Person.

just go here

https://ca.usembassy.gov/visas/

apply online for the DS-160: Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application

then

https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-CA/niv/users/sign_in

to pay and schedule interview.

the only document you need is you notice of dessition / PR card.

when you go they will ask you questions you put in the application.

example of the question she asked me

what is your full name?
when did you come to canada
how did you come to canada ( did you have a visa)
do you have family member in canda ( for me i ony have my byfriend so i said no)
do you have family in the us?
do you work / go to school?
why are you going to the us?

okay i have approved the visa enjoy your trip you will get your passport back in the mail in three days.

she lied thou i got my passport back in two days. with the vis inside.

if you have any other question feel free to ask.

Really appreciate your answers. And I have another questions as follows :
1. Do you know if the person crossed the US \ Canada border will get a chance for this visa?
2. Do I need a prove of my working and bank statement as well?

Appreciate your time

Hello Everyone,

I have never been member of any forum and have always been someone who reads quietly and do not interact.
But going through the same situation as all of you, I felt that there is an information lacking on the forums as well as on the Canadian Immigration's website and I myself as a single parent right now in Canada, find it essential for families with kids.

Refugee Travel Document process is different and much longer when it comes to minor kids with single parent in Canada.
I applied for Refugee Travel Documents for myself and my minor child , both as recently approved protected persons.
I got my own first RTD valid for 2 years after 6 weeks of application submission.
However, for my minor child, I received a letter from the Gatineau Office (we are located in Ontario), around 2 weeks after I got my own RTD, asking for my child's other parent who is not in Canada (has never been) to go to the nearest Canadian Consulate and sign PPTC-028 Consent Form while providing original ID documents.
So PPTC-028 is a form provided by the Canadian Consulate/Embassy/High Commission to the parent outside Canada, to fill out and sign IN PERSON ONLY.
Once the form is signed, the Canadian Consulate/Embassy/High Commission sends the signed form electronically along with copies of ID documents to the Gatineau Office in Canada.
And once they receive this document, the Gatineau authorities start counting ANOTHER 20 working days in order to process the child's RTD application.
So, now I am waiting for my child's RTD.

The part that I do not agree with is that why is this information NOT mentioned on the immigration website so that people know, plan and expect accordingly.
However, no complaints as compared to our native countries for sure. So all is well that ends well :)

Wish you all best of luck and I hope this information would be useful for some of you.
My husband had to do this same process and got passport fr my child

No need to prove anything they will just ask you the information you put on the online application, i literally walked with my:
  • Passport (RTD)
  • Notice of decision
  • Visa confirmation page, and proof of payment page. ( and they did not even ask for that page)
They did not ask me how much made they just asked if i work where i work, and what is my position at my job or job title.

to address the border question i am not sure to be honest i think once you crossed the border legally then-you should be fine.

I am Jamaican.

but even if your country has a travel ban it should not be a problem since you are using a Canadian document to travel.

but that is just my opinion so i am not sure.

maybe post your country of origin and someone here might have had success with the US visa from our country.
