Hi there! Joining in for this thread.

Sent out my application end of may, waiting on any word from IRCC now..
My husband is Canadian, I'm from the Netherlands.

Application sent: may 23 2019
Application received: may 27 2019
AOR: june 10 2019

I linked the PR and OWP application to my online profile today. For the OWP it says that they received it may 20; which is impossible since they received the PR+OWP application package on may 27.... does anybody have any idea what’s up with that?

I think they've problably made a mistake on the date, and i don't think you should be worried.
And Congrats on your AOR!!!

Congrats on you AOR, that was fairly quick....
My documents were delivered on may 29th, waiting for AOR.

Application Received: May 17th

Still no AOR here either. Some lucky ducklings have gotten their AOR within 1-2 weeks.

But since everyone has waited 40-50 days for theirs in previous months. Those who sent their applications in early on in May should be getting their AORs soon. Soon guys! :)

Did any of you who are applying under the common law category submit the statutory declaration of common-law partnership signed by a notary? It says its not mandatory on the normal checklist BUT lists it as an item needed on the OWP checklist.

Hi,

1. Yes, I submitted the statutory declaration and it has to be notarized if you want a legal document.
2. It’s not mandatory, but I suggest you to provide it because it shows that you and your partner “legally recognize your common-law relationship”.

But to confirm: it lists it as an item to include in BOTH the regular application checklist, AND the OWP checklist. However only on the regular checklist does it say that it isn't required. Thus, are you sure that it's not necessary?

Also, on IMM 5719 (application to change conditions), the first question asks "I am applying for one or more of the following:
-apply for a work permit with the same employer
-apply got a work permit for the frst time or with a new employer
-restore my status as a worker"

My common law partner currently is working with an employer on a working holiday visa. He just wants to get an OWP so he can continue working but not necessarily be tied down to his current employer. Which option/options should he choose?

If you are so much stressed about statutory declaration, why not just add it? Each case is different and depends on the agent's opinion; you might be asked or not for it at a later point in time.

The PR checklist is clear: "This is not mandatory...", but in the work permit it is mandatory, and I suggest you to add it in the PR too. Why don't you want to provide it if it helps you to get your PR?

I am sorry, I do not know the answer because I am an international student, then, my case is different from your partner. I hope somebody else can help you.

I'm actually here on an IEC Working Holiday visa, which I can't apply to extend. I'm aware that I'm rolling the dice in case my application is returned... in fact, I have some annoyance at my partner for taking so long on certain parts of the application and putting me in this situation, but that's between me and her :) In the event that it is returned, I'll drive down to Niagara, flagpole for a visitor's visa, and my partner will have to stretch her paycheck very thin to support us both until I get the OWP.

Ugh your story sounds familiar. I'm Canadian and my common-law partner is American, he was here on an IEC OWP and we left submitting the PR and OWP apps pretty late (although I was finishing my PhD so kinda legit reason). He was on implied status for almost 3 months before it was returned to me incomplete (2 days before I defended actually..), because I submitted my T1 General instead of my Notice of Assessment. Cost us $200 to apply to restore his status and of course IRCC had "updated" their forms since I originally submitted so I had to redo everything. Not to scare you, hopefully yours will be fine, but super disruptive with him having to quit working and me having to support us on my then not so great student salary..
I feel awful, poor guy hasn't been able to go home since Christmas and may not get to until the end of summer depending on how much they ding us for him being out of status. I wish you and your partner much better luck than us!!

You need to check off "apply for a work permit for the first time or with a new employer" and leave the section about intended employer blank.. My partner was on a one year working holiday as well and that's what I was instructed to do. Since you're not extending his working holiday permit (most likely because you can't), this is a completely new application and type of OWP. Hope that helps!

My partner was on a one year working holiday as well and that's what I was instructed to do. Since you're not extending his working holiday permit (most likely because you can't), this is a completely new application and type of OWP. Hope that helps!
That being said, you were allowed to continue to work on implied status even though your working holiday visa expired?
Also.. for the things that you "left blank", are we not to write "N/A" in those sections? Aren't we not allowed to leave anything blank?

Edit: I just called immigration and they told me to only check off "continue working for current employer" but everyone on this forum has been telling me otherwise.... Now I don't know what to do
