Recently just saw one case where OWP was expedited after being sent back but that was only because IRCC erroneously sent it back thinking there was an error with it when there was not. I have not seen any OWP jump the queue when it's an applicants fault or mistake in terms of the application, payment, etc.

I don't understand your question about the medical. The medical is mandatory as part of both the inland and outland PR app. It is not tied to any processing times - the medical is simply another step in the process.
Most posts show that we go back into the pile and start again. Happy to wait for PR, the OWP is more urgent. Thanks for your input.

Yes, that's what I said - the only time I've ever seen it not go back to the start was when it was a screw up on IRCCs part. Otherwise the trend has been for the last couple of years at least that it goes to the back of the pile. Luckily OWP processing has been pretty quick as of late!

So I'm a March 11th applicant who hasn't had OWP approval yet. I actually called IRCC to answer a certain question I had, and during the conversation the agent informed me that the OWP is given when AIP is given on the PR application...

What? I am absolutely certain that is false. It really makes me wonder why this agent was given this information. But the fact that I still have not received it is making me wonder if that's what they are waiting for for my case specifically

That is true if when you sent application off or when they received it you are out of status as implied status does not count

Were you in status when you applied? If not, then the officer is right.

Thanks for your answers. However, he did not speak as if this applied to being out of status or on implied status. He spoke of it as a general rule.

To answer your questions, I did send the applications during implied status from my visitors extension (March 11), however my visitors extension that I submitted in January was finally approved last weekend. Would they not consider this as having valid status when I sent in the OWP application?

That makes you now in status so as far as I'm aware and have seen should be approved before the aip in sponsership

This year they've made the mistake more than once of believing an applicant was out of status when they applied for OWP when they in fact weren't. If you had valid status as you've said, make sure you stay on top of this one.

That sounds wrong, my impression is that as long as you had legal status of any kind you can get the work permit before AIP (the website says the difference between if it hasn’t yet been approved the OWP has to be mailed and if the AIP has been received it can be applied for online). I also called as my app was received on the 11th and I have no OWP and the guy who answered told me that the OWP application wouldn’t be returned (for being incomplete) if the AOR for the PR app had been received (which is different to what has happened to some people on these forums) so I don’t know how accurate the advice is.

Hi everyone, I’m sponsoring my wife who’s already in Canada, we have received AOR few weeks ago. we sent paper application to Mississauga with all the necessary documents and my proof of income ( current job offer letter), unfortunately I changed my employer couple of weeks ago, so should I notify IRCC and send my (sponser) new job offer letter?
Thanks in advance.
