Just spoke to CIC on call and they asked me to leave it at 1, and to write an explanation letter alongside it, stating that since the guide didn't provide any guidance on how to compute family size on this question, I am excluding my parents from this sum.
Would do the exact opposite. Include your parents and submit a correct application. You can write about why you put 1 on the EOI.

Would something like this suffice? I thought the EOI questions were really straightforward as it categorically defined what number to put where.

Explanation Letter – IMM5768

I would like to point out that for Question 14 which asks for employment history, under the ‘Family Size’ column, I have included my parents (2) who I am sponsoring via this application for the corresponding fields for each of 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019-Present in the sum of 3. This is because the application guide (Guide 5772) did not provide any clarity around it.

I remained a single individual without a common law partner/spouse, kids or any previously sponsored individuals during this period.

Thanks,

Thanks,
Just Saying I wrote 2 for me and my wife, but you can go ahead and state what the agent told you, I interpreted this as family size in Canada at that point of time, since my parents were in India

That is what the agent said too, to write just 1, but the explanation above is in line with what a lot of people on this forum are suggesting which is to include parents.

You need to include your parent(s) for all years in that table. There are couple help pages on CIC's website about family size calculation with examples.
What about the gross income field? Am I supposed to put in the income stated on my NoA line 150? @canuck78

Last but not least, is anyone attaching bank statements, pay stubs or employment verification letter for this application? I know it's not a requirement but just wanted to see what other folks were doing. Thanks!

Since they are asking you info about the last three years and you were alone at that point of time, I would say to write 1, but you can write whatever makes sense to you

Hi Guys, I have one question on Family Unit. I am currently sponsoring my Spouse to come to canada and application is in progress. Also now, I am parallelly sponsoring my mother and father under PGP. But my wife is still in India waiting on her application. So when I will fill my financial evaluation form there in the employment history, they are asking for family size. What should I write there in family size? I got married last year for example?

Hi All,

Difficult to go through every single post here so apologies if it has been repeated, but on IMM5768, for Q14, the family size is before the parents are added right? So for example if I have always been single and by myself, sponsoring my parents, I will just denote '1' for family size for all of 4 rows of years (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019-Present) right?
Always include parents in family size!

Guide 5772: You, the sponsor (and your co-signer, if applicable), must prove that you have enough income to support all the people you’ll be financially responsible for once you become a sponsor. We call this your “family size”, which is the number of people you’ll be responsible for.

In your case, 3 is your family size from 2016 to 2018. Yourself, and your parents.
I hope this gives you clarity.

i have a question regarding form imm5768e (Financial Evaluation)

14. Provide your employment history as well as periods of unemployment for the last THREE consecutive taxation years preceding your application

1. I should use NOA for year 2016, 2017 and 2018. Is that correct?
2. I am employed since 2015 with same company. how should I input my gross income? should I update only one row with total sum of income from NOA (line 150)? or should I enter 3 separate entries for each year?
3. what should be From and To date? Jan thru December? or financial period (i.e. March thru Feb)?
4. The address and phone number is my work address and work phone number or my company head office address and phone number?

thank you for your help in advance.

1) Your mother can't sponser anyone. Only you can sponser your mother and her dependant in family. Grandchild is not a dependant.
2)This is application to sponser your family, not family of your brother.
3) Yes correct.
4) Yes correct.
5) Yes correct.
6) Add additional Document for missing information.
7) Photos may be in colour or in black and white.
8) Your birth certificate where name of your parents is written.
9) Most people use DHL for courier from india.
10) You can notarized in India or Canada.
Thanks, further questions, might be last :)
1) without my absence how do i sign or attest translation my birth certificate where only my fathers name is written?
2) My brother can do that but still is my sign necessary on that?
3) Does my mom need to provide translation of death certificate also of my father?
4) Can i sponsor my younger brother but he is older than 21 years old?
5) If i can not sponsor grandchild why the relationship option is still there in dropdown?

This is awesome. Thank you indeed.

I will add the explanation letter just in case too.

Just send biographical page, they don't care about visas or stamps, if you put a trip on the Schedule A, they trust in your word. They only want to see that your passport is valid for at least 18 months or the entirety of the process, that way if it's close to expiration they notify you to renew it...
Parent's passport needs to be valid for at least 18 months? My mom's passport is expiring in Jan 2020 and my dad's passport will be expiring in Mar 2020. They are in Canada right now but will be going back to India in Aug and will apply for the renewal, will that work?
Please some answer this
