Hi,

Want to clarify, do I need an income to sponsor my husband?

We have an 18 month old daughter that I am taking care of here in Canada therefore even though I want to work I am unable to as no one will take care of our daughter. I applied for subsidized daycare / childcare but unfortunately I am still in the waiting list and may take months before we get it.

Thanks.

There is no income requirement but you must be able to demonstrate you can support your spouse and cannot be collecting social assistance.

Thank you. Any idea how we can demonstrate how we will be able to support our family?

We have a plan but I do not know how to explain it and what documentation do we need?

Our plan once he is here:

1. He will look for work as he has the experience and qualification
2. If we do get the subsidized day care then I will look for work as well.
3. His great-uncle who lives an hr from us will help financially for while he look for employment
4. My mom will temporarily support us by paying rent until we are already financially capable in paying our own rent.

His great-uncle and my mom will execute an affidavit as a supporting document.

Any idea what other documentation / proof do we need to provide?

As kc said. I applied to sponsor my husband. I don't work at all. So we explained that, and that he will be supporting us. We provided bank statements and a letter from his employer saying how long he's been there abd how salary ect. As long as you can show that you won't need government assistance to take care if him, you should be fine :) good luck

May I ask how many months of your bank statements did you provide? We have depleted his savings when I gave birth to our daughter 3 days before I got my OHIP :(. We only have a few thousands left but as I said his great-uncle and my mom will provide temporary support, do you think that would be enough?
